What travellers are saying
- Rachel B7 contributionsWe all loved the tram trip. Though we parked at Colyton as it free parking. Dog are allowed and there was ample seating as thankfully it was dry. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars was because it did seem expensiveWritten 8 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ChristheWindowRomsey3 contributionsThis is a stony beach ideal for paddle boarding and canoeing. Some flat areas to plat ball games. Most important is you need cash to buy anything on the beach because there is little to no mobile signals so they can’t take cards.Written 16 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Dawn SBirmingham, UK391 contributionsThe coastal path to Seaton is high about Beer beach with a narrow pathway which is steep with lots of steps. It leads you straight to the edge of Seaton beach where you’ll find a cafe for a quick refuel before heading back.Written 4 June 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - David DDevon, UK26,580 contributionsSunday 2nd June, a glorious sunny day and we visited these incredible Seaton Wetlands, which are literally on our doorstep.
While walking about we visited two of the features in the Wetlands, Burrow Pit and Marshes Hide.
From the hide we saw a variety of birds including chaffinch, sparrows, robins, egrets and so much more. We saw a fox family enjoying the sunshine, sheep and cows grazing. There were great views across the River Axe and it's valley, it was made all the better as a tram went by.
As we walked around the Burrow Pit we saw
a swan sitting on her nest.
We only encountered a handful of people as walked about so it was so peaceful and tranquil.
There is no admission fee to visit the Wetlands.Written 2 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. lovely walks along the coastline. My only complaint was the lack of parking, obviously it’s a tourist hotspot yet the parking has not been taken into account which is a shame.Written 6 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. A small winding lane (mostly pedestrianised) with lots of little independent shops brings you down to the sea front.
The beach is all pebbles and slopes down into the sea. There is however a concrete esplanade down most of the length, and plastic boards have been added so wheelchairs and pushchairs can access the top part of the pebbles.
Despite it being a very hot week in the summer holidays, the beach wasn’t too busy and it was lovely to take a dip or two in the sea which was very clean and clear. Water shoes would help protect your feet from the pebbles.
There’s a toilet block, water points, a couple of ice cream kiosks and a cafe along the sea front itself and the town shops and cafes are very nearby. As we were staying for a week self catering, we found the town centre Tesco and Aldi more than adequate.
The harbour is at one end of the beach and the other end, after the esplanade, you can reach Seaton Hole beach which is even quieter and has some rock pools to explore. This end is also where too can reach the costal path to Beer which I walked and is very pleasant despite the hill!
There’s one small but well run amusement arcade opposite the main entrance to the beach.
Also in the town, a few minutes walk from the sea front is the tram which is a nice little excursion.
The whole area is really beautiful and I would definitely stay here again. We found enough to do a couple with young children also travelling with mobility restricted older parents.Written 18 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. A bit hard on the feet as it is a pebble beach, safe for children to use.
We took our dog who was able to walk off lead, not a lot of shade. A very friendly Cafe as you go down to the beach, very clean toilets and a good selection of refreshments. Quite a few stairs to climb but well worth it.
