I lived in Bali with my son for a year. The regenerative rice farming class that I took along with the two overnight experiences we had were, by far, the highlight of the year.

The location, with views of Mt. Agung and the rice fields is exquisite. The structure, made of bamboo, deserves to be featured in a design magazine. Now that I am back in the U.S., my mind often drifts back to that magical spot when I’m seeking a sense of calm.

But the real beauty of the experience are the Balinese who work there. Ibu Tati, who makes the most delicious vegetarian dishes with locally-sourced and hand-picked ingredients, will charm your pants off with her ear-to-ear smile and stories of laughing meditation classes. The younger Balinese, like Ming and Martana, who led the group are wonderful. They are full of knowledge, funny and warm. It’s simply a delight to be in their company.

The activities, that often include the making of things like bracelets made of seeds, are always interesting as are the participants who come from around the world to experience a slice of Bali off the beaten path.

I honestly can’t say enough about this place, experience and people. It is simply magic.
