What travellers are saying
- Stephen TPreston, UK20,059 contributionsA lovely characterful old town area - high on a hill so plenty of views available of sea and mountains.
Seems to growing even more in popularity but then this place is quintessentially Spanish.
Home to many bar s and restaurants with perhaps Oustau being the pick of the bunch.
Taxis freely available to be collected from the arch (Arco).
Careful of the floor as in some places the polished cobbles can be slippy.Written 2 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It adds to the mystical spirituality of the structure. Located on the attractive central square of the old town it is very close to a scenic overlook where you get a magnificent view of the beach and azure blue waters of the Mediterranean.Written 13 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - joeeggGreenockgreenock346 contributionsThe beach and promenade have stunning views. The beach is more pebble than sand and there are several cafes bars and restaurants along the prom.

- HappyKatyaDana Point, CA341 contributionsThough Altea's beach and ocean promenades are lovely, don't miss climbing up the hill to Altea Old Town, where enroute you find the beautiful overlook plaza Mirador (also called Mirador Blanc). It's the ultimate photo op of the sea and the mountains, and if you continue afterward up Santa Barbara street, you reach the Old Town plaza with lovely restaurants and a gorgeous Cathedral.Written 17 January 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Alan CElche, Spain7 contributionsGood choice of stalls, but off season, and not as full as I have seen it before. Prices as usual, but significantly more stalls selling recycled clothing.Written 11 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - larsaksNorway5 contributionsThe marina is located at the south end of town / village there is boardwalk from the harbor and along the seafront of the town, it is also only a short walk if one goes the other way along the beach road to Albir. The harbor has a good pier that shields the boats for most of the storms, it can be a little swell in part of the harbor. It facilitates repairs of both hull and engine overhauls. and it is possible to take the boat ashore for winter storage.Written 6 March 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Stephen TPreston, UK20,059 contributionsA tricky place to get to but worth the effort to have a look at a classical piece of Spanish history - dating back to the sixteenth century.
Also the walk to get here, whilst challenging, can also be most enjoyable.
Lots of information boards can be found around the ruins.Written 18 November 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. You might want to finish your visit uphill and have a dinner in one of the restaurants in the old town. The restaurants along this promenade looked too impersonal and industrialized to me.Written 3 October 2014This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - northants90Northampton, UK3,177 contributionsAltea is a really lovely coastal town and the plaza is a perfect addition. Really nice location and lovely part of the town. - BriJan_13Hartlepool, UK87 contributionsBeautiful litte stations with very friendly ticket office staff. Ver clean airconditioned trains that run hourly and are always on time , We were staying in Altea and got the train to Calpe twice ( Worth it just for the views ) and Benidorm once ( once was enough ) The cost 2.45 euros return !! The UK could learn a lot from tese people ! Unfortunately the line from Calpe to Denia was under maintainence so we could not go there .Written 20 July 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
