We enjoyed 3 snorkelling sessions which were not too far apart and we were surprised just how good the experience was in terms of amazing colourful tropical fish and graceful turtles that you could get within a few feet of. We were taken by two Lombok brothers who looked after us and the one in the water took endless spectacular footage with our GoPro getting down to eye level with the turtles and including our clumsy snorkelling in the shot, Lunch was good on a pristine beach. Recommend going early morning at high tide and when the crowds are small. The snorkel destinations were awesome (except for one jellyfish-filled location, which was remedied immediately). Had one of the best lunches at Gili Air. Fun, fun, fun experience.
Bad: three things: too many people, too many people and too many people! The snorkel locations were so crowded - we counted up to 18 snorkel boats in one tiny area. All the snorkelers were mostly beginners, so we experienced a lot of people grabbing and climbing onto us; kicking and pulling on our snorkel gear. We hired a motorbike and felt very safe riding around the island. The roads were mostly very good. Visitored some beautiful beaches and amazing waterfalls. Hired a private boat to visit 3 gilli islands spectacular snorkelling. Loved our trip here. Stayed in budget accommodation which was still very nice, with a great pool, breakfast included and across road from beach. Less than AUD45 per night for 2 people. They responded very quick and gave us a list of options to choose from and extra information.
We choose the tour to the 3 gili’s. Our guide Nasri came to pick us up at the hotel. On the way, he told us a lot about Lombok and the Gili’s. He also learned dutch, so we could speak in our own language to him, which we thought was very cool.
We took the boat to the gili’s with a captain and a local guide. Our local guide showed us so many beautiful spots and fishes. He searched for turtles and took such nice video’s with the GoPro.
At Gili Meno, Nasri told us about how the locals help the baby turtles and showed us around. After that we went to Gili T. We had great lunch and strolled around.

The driver was really nice and also very helpful. We went to spots were a lot tourists were but also to more quiet spots.
