We went by road from Gangtok in private taxi. Border Road Organisation ( BRO) done a great job maintaining the road even at the altitude of over 12000 ft. Road wasn't busy, and there were horse shoe bends one after other climbing and going downhill for 25km. It takes almost 2 hrs from Gangtok with a tea / coffee stop. There was snow on the mountains surrounding but Lake was pristine and not frozen. You can do a Yak ride or even a ropeway sky ride ( not us too old). Shiva temple at the lake and viewing platforms were very nice but told with a strong breeze. Temp was - 2 to -3 °c. on 10th Feb. Walk on one side of Lake pleasant. You will need a security pass to visit this lake, even as Indian citizen. For a non Indian passport holder, you need a guide who can arrange the permit day before. Permit needs after your passport, visa stamps are scrutinised by border security. It is very close to Nathila pass and chinese border, and there is significant security ( BSF) presence. On way back, we had some local lunch in a small cafe / shop, but you have to pre-order ( we did on way there).
So friendly and welcoming locals. Our return trip took 6 hrs from Gangtok.

This is unmissable. Falls on the way from Tsomogo Lake to Nathu La pass. Children and elders enjoyed equally. Typically one spends less than half hour here

I like this place although it is quite a distance to travel. The temple is serene and quaint.

It has Shirdi Baba, Shri Ram, Lakshman, Devi Sita, Lord Ganapathy.

We enjoyed the walk through the forest and seeing the animals. Only 50 rupees to get in. Stay on the walkways because there are leeches in the grass.

Banjhakri waterfalls are quite popular among tourists and has a good atmosphere around it. The path to the falls is beautiful with several installations and viewing points on the way which are fun to see. The falls are huge with high pressure water falling in steps. You can go very close to the falls which is an added advantage. There were several adventure activities like zip line and an artificial lake for boating as well in the park that has the falls.

We had to buy few coins at the entry but food & drinks were complimentary & they were really good. In India, casinos are very few & I think it is one of the best. They also provided free drop back service to my place.

Gochala trek was outstanding. The views along the trek were awesome. We did a private trek with limboo tours and travels. The cook was first rate and even managed to cook a birthday cake in a pressure cooker. The 3rd day from Dzongri to Kockchurung was my favourite day with continuos snow.It was one tough trek which will be remembered for its beauty. The early morning view of Kanchenjunga/Mt pandim was exhilarating. We actually made it only till Samiti lake.I recommend this trek to everyone fit enough its a lifetime experience.

Ganesh Tok viewpoint is something that everyone should visit just because of the beautiful temple and the views one gets from it. It also has a souvenir shop where you can buy items for taking back home. It is properly maintained and although there are some steps to reach it, it’s an easy climb.

The best way to use this ropeway (if you are staying near MG road market, Gangtok) is to take a two way ticket (one way cost is same) the ropeway downwards and then visit the popular monasteries nearby and then take the ropeway back to MG road. Gives and overall view of the way to main market Gangtok and around.

NOTE- Cost below Rs. 200/pp for two way
