It's a road that runs along the waterfront. There are a few parks and statues along the way, but few cafes and restaurants -- a disappointment given the setting. Walk along for 15 minutes and you're done. Quiet, compared to the city.

A lively spot with some good artwork, this temple has no particular history of note, but it's easy to get to. Probably the only Hindu temple you'll visit in Pondicherry. Nice, but nothing really special.

This grand church is just opposite the puducherry railway station. One can easily visit this place along with the French colony tour. Grand structure

The beach is hardly 500 Mtrs from the railway station but a bit far from the bus station. One is not allowed to swim in any of the beaches in pondicherry unlike Goa.

    NOTE
    1) Come early morning or evening for a walk
    2) French colonial vibe is more interesting than the beach itself
    3) Autos are costly
    4) KBS is a good place to have some tea/coffee/snacks/cakes etc at budget friendly price

This is probably the best and well maintained church in the mid of the French colony in pondicherry. Though average from outside, the inside is gothic and grand. Must visit

Beautiful temple. Seeing Varadarajan Perumal in such an ancient and divine setting was worthwhile. The temple has colorful sculptures of all the 108 divya desams. One can feel the presence of God in this temple. Must visit when in Pondicherry.

This is probably the closest beach to Auroville, but unlike Goan beaches, one can not swim here. One can just sit and relax in peace with no shops and food around..

We wanted to go to the Paradise Beach so decided to take a boat from Chunambar Boathouse. It was the day of Christmas and extremely crowded. They are charging separately for entry fee (just to enter the area) and separately for boating (for the boat ride to Paradise Beach). Now both the counters had huge queue and will kill your time. A single counter with the two people operating can be some much convenient for the tourists. In addition to that the wait time for the boat ride would kill up another hour. All these for a maximum 20 to 30 minute ride can easily frustrate people.

The boat ride in itself was very blissful. The beautiful views soothed our eyes and the cool breeze calmed our souls. The ride was definitely a highlight and we really loved the experience.

Pretty church with gorgeous stained glass windows. Worth a stop for a little calm during a busy day shopping. Worth a visit

You can only see it from outside. We went in the evening for a walk and this place is located on the way. You can see it from distance. Not sure if we will be allowed inside in the morning times.

It is the only park which is near the Beach and due to the parking issues it looks crampy, but inside kids can enjoy and have a nice time and we as parents can rest too :-) .!

Auro beach is near the pondicherry University and one can explore it as well if they want to see sunrise.

NOTE- On the way back from auro beach to Auroville, the local villagers sell a local RAGI dish (keeps you cool) MUST TRY. Also locally grown CASHEW available which one must buy, it's really tasty here and cheap

1999 war between India and Pakistan may not be acutely present in minds and memories of the visitors from other continents for whom it was “just a boarder war”. But young soldiers suffered and died. That is why it is good to have this monument present honoring the lost lives of heroes.
