It's a road that runs along the waterfront. There are a few parks and statues along the way, but few cafes and restaurants -- a disappointment given the setting. Walk along for 15 minutes and you're done. Quiet, compared to the city.

The beach is hardly 500 Mtrs from the railway station but a bit far from the bus station. One is not allowed to swim in any of the beaches in pondicherry unlike Goa.

    NOTE
    1) Come early morning or evening for a walk
    2) French colonial vibe is more interesting than the beach itself
    3) Autos are costly
    4) KBS is a good place to have some tea/coffee/snacks/cakes etc at budget friendly price

This is probably the closest beach to Auroville, but unlike Goan beaches, one can not swim here. One can just sit and relax in peace with no shops and food around..

Auro beach is near the pondicherry University and one can explore it as well if they want to see sunrise.

NOTE- On the way back from auro beach to Auroville, the local villagers sell a local RAGI dish (keeps you cool) MUST TRY. Also locally grown CASHEW available which one must buy, it's really tasty here and cheap

One of the best beaches in India I ever visited.
    Entry fee is 70 rupees.

They have ample parking, many sports like speed boat, jet ski, kayaking, ATV etc.

Nice restaurant, dress changing rooms, lockers are available.

They have life guards available in case of emergency.

It is the only park which is near the Beach and due to the parking issues it looks crampy, but inside kids can enjoy and have a nice time and we as parents can rest too :-) .!

Maybe we hit a wrong time,or perhaps the changes in the water use pattern are driving away the birds, but this really didnt seem to be worth the long drive out unless you like to just sit and gaze at a man made water body with nothing else to enliven the view.

Veerampattinam Beach is one of the most beautiful places in Pondicherry sightseeing. This village holds an integral place in Pondicherry’s history and hosts some of the most exuberant festivals. It is known as one of the most gorgeous beaches in south India and attracts a lot of tourists. Visitors at Veerampattinam beach can also watch the fishermen who work with their traditional nets to catch their daily fish.

    Location: Veerampattinam, Pondicherry
Distance from Pondicherry Bus Stand: It is about 10 kilometres from the bus stand

Note, the gardens are currently closed whilst maintenance takes place. Current signage says closure is from 12/02/24 to 30/09/24.

A visible landmark in the city, the memorial is a good spot for views, clicks and selfies. Looms large on the horizon as you hit the city.

This is a very huge wetland near to puducherry where we can spot lot of resident and migratory birds. We will have lot of transportation options to reach this place. All ordinary buses that travel from puducherry to chennai on ECR road had a stop at chettinagar. We need to walk for 1 km to reach this wetland. It will be good if we have own vehicle to roam around this wetland. We can find lot of migratory birds like Painted Storks,Open bill storks,Gray herons,Northern Shovler,Northern pintails,Godwits,Sea Gulls etc
