- podrozniczka60New Jersey14,695 contributions1999 war between India and Pakistan may not be acutely present in minds and memories of the visitors from other continents for whom it was “just a boarder war”. But young soldiers suffered and died. That is why it is good to have this monument present honoring the lost lives of heroes.Written 7 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - podrozniczka60New Jersey14,695 contributionsThis statue is a true traditional monument. It used to have a prominent location from what we heard. It looks fine in current surroundings. For better or worse he was a part of local history.Written 7 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - A G MKochi (Cochin), India4 contributionsJeanne d'Arc from poor Domremy is in poorer habitation, imprisoned in a neglected park. The Maid of Orleans was burned at the stake by the English because she wore men's clothes. In Pondy she faces the Indian sun and battles against the ever salty sea breeze and suffocating humidity. In French history and culture she is an iconic figure, symbolizing freedom of spirit, valor, and love of France. Venerated as a saint by the Catholics, she exudes confidence, simplicity, peasant-like humility and no-nonsense demeanor. There is a sense of sacredness and she is untainted by the hordes who have no sense of what is hallowed within the enclosure. The Capuchins are reported to be in charge of her keep.Written 28 September 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
