What travellers are saying
- Aviv RTel Aviv, Israel92 contributionsThis temple is so beautifully decorated, that it’s just a pleasure to walk in, sit on the floor and look around. The little stories of Ganesha are sculptured on the walls around you and are amazingly done with so much details and color. The ceiling outside is stunning. And it’s a very clean temple, unlike many where the rails rake over much of the space.Written 10 April 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - KaviyanathanChennai (Madras), India141 contributionsAn Energizing experinece when we reached there, not just like other churches but its a must see when you visit there, becoming quite messy in the weekends, but you can find PEACE in week days.Written 28 May 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Narendran DamaTirupati, India78 contributionsThe Sri Aurobindo Ashram is one of the most famous and wealthy ashrams in India. The Ashram is within walking distance of Manakula Vinayagar Temple and Rock Beach. Through permanent exhibits of photographs, captions, tests, videos, and books, the center also provides an introduction to Sri Aurobindo's vision and The Mother's spiritual practice. Only a small portion of the premises is accessible to visitors. The environment is extremely calm and serene. Inside the building, you are not allowed to use your phone or speak. Outside the ashram, your shoes and chappals must be removed and placed on racks opposite the ashram. Cleanliness and order are maintained in the ashram by volunteers and associates. It is worth going, but there is not a lot to do or see.Written 11 July 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - A G MKochi (Cochin), India4 contributionsOur Lady of the Angels - The church built in Greco-Roman style, casts an ethereal aura with pleasing light in soft hues, and uplifting towers pointing the unseen angels singing 'Gloria in Excelsis Deo'. Our Lady was addressed as Hail Mary, Ave Maria, by the angel Gabriel. The angels again announced the birth of her son to the shepherds. The church is nursed well by its keepers, tenderness, gentleness and grace fill the holy place. The mind can submerge itself in the surrounding peace away from the bedlam of the streets. This church is beautiful and the French Catholic influence is remarkable and enduring.Written 26 September 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Deadman17Mumbai, India569 contributionsThis is the place which lists down what all restorations have been done in and around Pondicherry. In a way it takes us back to olden times and shows what Pondicherry really was - a quiet sea side holiday town, long before the excellent connectivity with neighbouring cities transformed it into a weekend holiday destination. The place helps us connect the past of Pondicherry with the present.Written 30 May 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - podrozniczka60New Jersey14,747 contributions1999 war between India and Pakistan may not be acutely present in minds and memories of the visitors from other continents for whom it was “just a boarder war”.
