- Maryline TNice, France48 contributionsToday I had a new cooking class with Manisha and as usual it was a great experience. Each time I learn something new. She used such a friendly way to share her cooking knowledges that everything seems to be easy. Thank you so much Manisha, I really love spending time in your kitchen and of course around your table. See you next year again…Written 25 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Neel R1 contributionOur first Authenticook experience was actually earlier in our India trip, in Mumbai. After an incredible experience there, we decided that we must try Authenticook again before our trip ends. That ended up being a great decision.
We first arrived at the host's (Pushpa) house with very little idea about Pondicherry cuisine. We knew it could be a combination of French and South Indian cuisine, but that was about it. Pushpa and her family were extremely kind in welcoming us to their beautiful home. The first item on the menu was actually Nannari Juice, which was a refreshing drink for a hot day.
At the dinner table we were treated to a wonderful South Indian style thali, with various dishes such as mutton sambar, poriyal, pakodas (and so much more!). My friend and I also got an opportunity to learn about Pondicherrian culture - how French and Tamil culture fused to make it's own unique microcosm. Pushpa's family has an interesting background and views on the world which contributed to a fruitful discussion. The dinner was topped off with some deliciously sweet Payasam which perfectly complimented the thali. We were stuffed - and very impressed by Pushpa's cooking. That was easily one of the best meals we had in India.
Finally, my friend and I also had some random logistical issues on the trip and Pushpa's family was extremely gracious in helping us out. I can't thank them enough for that! I highly recommend this experience - don't pass up the opportunity to meet a great family, enjoy wonderful food, and truly see Pondicherry from the inside!Written 30 January 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
