- Troy MBrookline28 contributionsI visited this center on my last trip to Pondicherry in 2018 and made a point to visit again this year (April 2023) when staying in Chennai (a 3 hr drive away). The Catholic Sisters at the center are TRULY doing God's work, teaching abused, disadvantaged women the craft of embroidery in a serene, beautiful setting. The pieces available for purchase are simply exquisite (some of the best needlepoint I have ever seen). In addition to embroidered napkins and towels, I bought multiple pieces to have framed, as they are truly works of art. Just remember to bring enough cash as the center does NOT accept credit cards. Also make sure to check their opening hours before planning your visit, as they are closed on some days and have limited hours on the days they are open. My only dilemma was trying to decide which pieces to ultimately purchase - they were ALL so gorgeous! By making a purchase here, you are rewarded with beautiful heirloom quality needlepoint pieces as well as the satisfaction of knowing your purchase is truly making a difference in the lives of these women. A "must visit" when in Pondicherry.Written 4 April 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- RebeccaNew Delhi, India8 contributionsDon’t miss the gem if you’re interested in shopping in Pondicherry. I stopped in while passing by and ended up with four high-quality reasonably priced kurtas. The woman who runs the shop is really kind, patient and passionate. Everything is made by tribal people with the proceeds going back to them. I went into a few stores in the more central area and found this one to be the best value.Written 4 December 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Mikan999Bristol, UK515 contributionsThe market consists of various sections: fish, meat, vegetables and flowers. It is a riot of noise smells and colours as local vendors shout their offers of the day. It is full of every kind of ingredient you would need to produce a Tamil feast. The flower market is overwhelming in its colours. The non-stop bustle of sellers and buyers is in itself fascinating. The stall holders are friendly and happy to be photographed. On some maps the market is shown as the Grand Bazar. There is an eastern entrance through a faded arch on M G road past a motorbike park and entrances on all three other sides. Definitely a must visit in Pondicherry.Written 12 January 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- JyotiBengaluru, India16 contributionsThe best gift shop I have ever come across. Believe me the work and cost will fail the best of bestest toy brands. Unique collection of toys. Have bought around 10 toys for my niece and nephews with me because of its uniqueness and creativity. It's very close (approx. 1-1.5km) to French colony and Gandhi statue. A must visit place.Written 6 October 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- ManasaBengaluru, India811 contributionsDon’t get fooled by its outer appearance. We entered with much skepticism but once inside, I was completely impressed. This happens to be a 24 year old mall and it is owned by the same person who brought us Hidesign. With marble flooring and wooden stairs, this places gives an old French aesthetic look. It is very encouraging to learn that they promote a lot of local products. There are discounts too on certain products. Do check out the organic products, ceramics, and quirky postcards all produced by the locals. A great place to shop for some quality products.Written 9 November 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
