- Sudesh1 contributionWe found Anokhi by chance while going to the beach road in Pondy... n couldn't stop shopping here. It's got very good collection and an equally helpful staff.
Though personally I feel the stuff was a bit over priced compared to the quality of cloth - but there is no denying the designs are amazing. And holidays are meant to do shopping. It sells almost everything. It's a stretch of nearly 1km on both sides of road. The woman who runs the shop is really kind, patient and passionate. Everything is made by tribal people with the proceeds going back to them. Have bought around 10 toys for my niece and nephews with me because of its uniqueness and creativity. It's very close (approx. 1-1.5km) to French colony and Gandhi statue. Bought some unusual oils that cannot be bought in Australia. Shop has some other gift ideas which are reasonably priced. Easy to find but they do close for lunch. Was there in the afternoon, and some stalls were closed; check ahead the best time to go there.
