There are superb hand made arts, paintings and handi crafts made and available here for sale. They are also available for subsidised prices. Each piece is a master piece. If you are an art lover you must visit the gallery at least once in your life.

We found Anokhi by chance while going to the beach road in Pondy... n couldn't stop shopping here. It's got very good collection and an equally helpful staff.

Though personally I feel the stuff was a bit over priced compared to the quality of cloth - but there is no denying the designs are amazing. And holidays are meant to do shopping. So I would suggest it's a must visit shop in Pondy.

Pondicherry is laid back and we enjoyed the stay. The cyclone played spoilsport as it rained heavily on the third day and we had to wade through water. Pondicherry is neat and clean and there is a lot to see and beautiful beaches to enjoy. Many of the attractions are within walking distance and you can stroll through soaking in the local ambience. I enjoyed the French quarter, the temples, beaches and the Sunday flea market.

I visited this center on my last trip to Pondicherry in 2018 and made a point to visit again this year (April 2023) when staying in Chennai (a 3 hr drive away). The Catholic Sisters at the center are TRULY doing God's work, teaching abused, disadvantaged women the craft of embroidery in a serene, beautiful setting. The pieces available for purchase are simply exquisite (some of the best needlepoint I have ever seen). In addition to embroidered napkins and towels, I bought multiple pieces to have framed, as they are truly works of art. Just remember to bring enough cash as the center does NOT accept credit cards. Also make sure to check their opening hours before planning your visit, as they are closed on some days and have limited hours on the days they are open. My only dilemma was trying to decide which pieces to ultimately purchase - they were ALL so gorgeous! By making a purchase here, you are rewarded with beautiful heirloom quality needlepoint pieces as well as the satisfaction of knowing your purchase is truly making a difference in the lives of these women. A "must visit" when in Pondicherry.

Don’t miss the gem if you’re interested in shopping in Pondicherry. I stopped in while passing by and ended up with four high-quality reasonably priced kurtas. The woman who runs the shop is really kind, patient and passionate. Everything is made by tribal people with the proceeds going back to them. I went into a few stores in the more central area and found this one to be the best value.

Opportunity to have a glimpse at a traditional local market.
If in search of fruits and vegs (at a local price) for your stay, this is the place.
Was there in the afternoon, and some stalls were closed; check ahead the best time to go there. Will take 1h ish (1h30 tops) of your time.

The best gift shop I have ever come across. Believe me the work and cost will fail the best of bestest toy brands. Unique collection of toys. Have bought around 10 toys for my niece and nephews with me because of its uniqueness and creativity. It's very close (approx. 1-1.5km) to French colony and Gandhi statue. A must visit place.

Definitely worth a visit if your interested in perfumes and essential oils as they have a wide range at good prices. Bought some unusual oils that cannot be bought in Australia. Shop has some other gift ideas which are reasonably priced. Easy to find but they do close for lunch. Staff very friendly and helpful.
