- Aviv RTel Aviv, Israel102 contributionsTo walk on the promenade at the evening or for the sunrise is a great activity in Pondicherry. There’s a lot going on, with locals and tourists are enjoying the breeze. The statue of Gahndi is a must.Written 10 April 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- sanjkarveMumbai, India134 contributionsThis is one Beach at Puducherry which u have to access through a boat/ferry. The same can be taken from Chunnambar Boat House. The first boat is at 0900 and the last return boat is at 1730.
The Boat ride is nice and pleasant. The Beach is clean and not overly crowded. However during afternoon times the Sand is very hot.
There are not many activities available except camel and horse ride. There are shacks that sell Coconut Water and one Shack which doubles as a Beach restaurant. The menu is quite adequate but pricing is high and the seating comfort is not there. There is also a fish spa available.
Avoid getting wet into the Sea as there are no adequate bathing facilities.
Overall worth a visit only once ( More so because of the restricted timings )Written 1 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The Ashram is within walking distance of Manakula Vinayagar Temple and Rock Beach. Through permanent exhibits of photographs, captions, tests, videos, and books, the center also provides an introduction to Sri Aurobindo's vision and The Mother's spiritual practice. Only a small portion of the premises is accessible to visitors. The environment is extremely calm and serene. Inside the building, you are not allowed to use your phone or speak. Outside the ashram, your shoes and chappals must be removed and placed on racks opposite the ashram. Cleanliness and order are maintained in the ashram by volunteers and associates. It is worth going, but there is not a lot to do or see.Written 11 July 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - AZCasualTravelerMesa, AZ1,858 contributionsThe Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is a Roman Catholic Basilica situated with the central city or old town of Pondicherry. This Basilica was built by French Missionaries back in the early 1900's, and the architecture is a beautiful, colorful blend of French and Indian design.Written 16 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - A G MKochi (Cochin), India4 contributionsOur Lady of the Angels - The church built in Greco-Roman style, casts an ethereal aura with pleasing light in soft hues, and uplifting towers pointing the unseen angels singing 'Gloria in Excelsis Deo'. Our Lady was addressed as Hail Mary, Ave Maria, by the angel Gabriel. The angels again announced the birth of her son to the shepherds. The church is nursed well by its keepers, tenderness, gentleness and grace fill the holy place. The mind can submerge itself in the surrounding peace away from the bedlam of the streets. This church is beautiful and the French Catholic influence is remarkable and enduring.Written 26 September 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Saravanan1 contributionGood spot for sunrise view at Pondy. Just hope that it is cloud free sky at the time of sunrise. Also the road which takes you to the shore/Beach is quite narrow and be prepared for parking challenges. It will ve hassle free if you take a driver for your vehicleWritten 2 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Climber079881402071 contributionThe boat house opens at 9 AM. First boat service starts at 9:30 AM. They could have started a bit earlier. The short boat ride is enjoyable. The paradise beach is very nice with river on one side and sea on the other. In summer, the sand gets very hot, making it a bit difficult to walk barefoot. But once you reach the seafront and dip into water it is really enjoyable. Very safe beach even for kids. There is a lifeguard at the beach. There are change rooms and wash rooms, but they are in pathetic condition. Public also very careless in throwing plastic bottles and waste here and there. However it was a very good experience overall!
The highlight was the seafood lunch we had at one Jellikettu restaurant, right opposite to the Chunnambar boat house on our return. For Rs. 840/- two of us had a sumptuous lunch with all sorts of seafood and chicken fries 👍Written 26 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - KaviyanathanChennai (Madras), India141 contributionsIt is the only park which is near the Beach and due to the parking issues it looks crampy, but inside kids can enjoy and have a nice time and we as parents can rest too :-) .!Written 28 May 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Aviv RTel Aviv, Israel102 contributionsIt’s a little, local museum with quite random objects exhibited. It’s right next to the park so it’s easy to just go in, make a quick tour and be out in 10-15 min. The display of statues of the Hindu gods is interesting.Written 11 April 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
