What travellers are saying
- KittenfaceAirdrie, UK132 contributionsWe stayed directly below the Duomo and it’s amazing how quickly you get used to the bells 🔔.
Well worth a visit. Lovely atmospheric church and the views over the valley are incredible.Written 30 October 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Car has to be parked on the parking spot near pizzeria "Zi-Meo". Then you have to walk up to the hill through the metal gate. This museum keeps a lot of things related to famous local poet Giovanni Pascoli.Written 14 January 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Vicky SilveAbbadia Lariana, Italy561 contributionsBarga is what you can call a “hidden gem”; even though it’s described as one of the most beautiful little ancient towns of Italy, there aren’t many tourists. It’s a pearl you definitely should discover!Written 11 August 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Nigel MCheshire, UK1,089 contributionsA fantastic idea for Barga with its links to Scotland, this little immaculately kept phone box originating from the UK and actually made in Scotland by Carron is now a well used tiny library.
You can take books there which are no longer needed and you can pick one or two up as well.
It was given to the people of Barga by an Italian Family living in Edinburgh who enjoyed coming to the area on holiday.Written 5 September 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It is indeed a beautiful village a few short miles from Barga and well worth a visit. It is of interest for family of allied forces during WW2.Written 8 August 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Woody G1 contributionTucked away in the valley below the beautiful town of Barga is La Cantina del Vino.
Cantina owner Francesca created a fantastical evening of wine, food and music.
Delicious wine flowed all evening. Savory small plates of tasty foods continuously appeared. Musicians charged us with lovely romantic songs that engaged the heart. The evening brought strangers together and made then friends. I will always remember our magical evening at La Cantina del Vino. You cannot find a better experience anywhere else in the world. If you find yourself anywhere in the Garfagnana Valley get to Barga and find La Cantina. You will be pleased beyond measure. .Written 12 August 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The walks, with friendly and knowledgeable walking guides, were outstanding and were well chosen for our level of fitness - a little challenging but with enormous rewards. The accommodation was delightful and we were made to feel so welcome by Luca; we thoroughly enjoyed the local food and wine, all cooked in the traditional way with fresh ingredients by Luca's mother, Franca. We can't imagine there are better walking experiences on offer in Tuscany.Written 16 November 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - mjen235Barga, Italy33 contributionsIf, like me, you like to learn about the legends and folklore of an area this is the place to go. It's important that you know the traditions and history of La Befana. We went as adults but the real magic of the place is for children, especially every January 6th.Written 3 September 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - jenniferstreekGreater London, UK4 contributionsTrevor (former member of Sparks Band from the 70's) singing at the club on the evening we visited. Drinks were cheap, great sound, great atmosphere and great walk home up steep slope to our apartment to the sound of the Duomo bells. Very atmospheric, we could have been back in the 13 century. The Jazz Club looks like an old house from the front - no bill boards, you wouldn't recognise it as a venue. Once inside very good atmosphere and friendly people. Had to pay a membership of 15 euro's for the annual membership - but worth it.Written 5 June 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
