Completely unspoilt and not touristy. Wander around at leisure. Spectacular views and photogenic location

Great place to visit, the town of Cluny is very attractive in itself - however it would be a major omission not to visit the Abbey. It was an abbey on an enormous scale and what little remains is impressive. They have a great 3D video of how it was established and how it grew. Well marked out routes - a great few hours

While it's no longer a stud farm there are still a lot of horses. We were able to watch a dressage demo but an olympic hopeful. Loved seeing the horses.

We were greeted warmly and the lady who was on duty on the day, provided us with a great overview and several suggestions for day trips.

The ‘Cheese Tower’ is accessed from the tourist information office. There are many steps to climb, but once you reach the top the view of Clint town is amazing. This wonderful view then also helps your understanding as you take your tour of the town.

What a great use of an old railway line to convert it into a bike path…
Day-1: Taize to Chalon-sur-saone and back (80km). Straight, well kept, well signposted, some nice converted old stations along the way
Day-2: Taize to Macon and back (60km). Hilly and more varied profile. Tunnel St.Claire (about 1.5km) along the way

    Would recommend this cycle path/route.
