We went on a morning tour. It was a really good experience. The guide knew a lot about the farm, production and coffee. He was good in involving the group in an informal way.
The coffee tasting at the end was also really good.
We had arranged transport to/from the farm and it worked perfectly.
    Would definitely recommend this tour.

Unexpected and amazing! Our guide was super knowledgeable and engaging. Wasn’t super interested about orchids going in and now I am rattling off non stop orchid facts! Haha. Highly recommend this

Our Tour Guide -Alberto- juan27-7-85@hotmail.com -Costa Rica Children's Eternal Rainforest. My granddaughter had learned of this area in class and the fantastic story of the students of Switzerland raising money to protect this rainforest from development. This was a long rough road up the mountain. So beautiful at the top. Many colorful birds, leaf cutting ants, and baby frogs! The full hike to the waterfall was too much for Nana, others loved the wonderful waterfall site.

We stayed at valle escondido specifically because we were interested in the educational permaculture aspect and the permaculture tour far exceeded our (already high) expectations. It was amazing! My partner was like Charlie at the Chocolate Factory. The first 45 minutes or so covered the ethics and principles of permaculture to give a foundation and the rest of the time was a guided tour of the property to see those components in practice. 12/10 would recommend! Can't miss it!

We took a cooking class at Sanctuario Ecologico. We got the history of the property, which was interesting. We went and picked fresh ingredients from the vast garden to make much of the dishes we were learning. The family and staff were very welcoming and informative. The food was great. It was a very immersive, fun and cultural activity that was great for the adults as well as the kids. Highly recommend.

I highly recommend the Skywalk in addition to walking the trails of the Reserva Bosque Nuboso Santa Elena and the Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Reserve. When we visited the Skywalk in the early morning we were able to spot monkeys and quetzals, which were incredible to see in wild. The views are stunning from the bridges.

This Skywalk is operated and maintained by Sky Adventures. You buy your ticket at the same facility that operates the ziplines and tram. This is a modern facility with a nice restaurant and gift shop.

Note that if you're fearful of heights, the Skywalk may not be your thing. There's six suspension bridge. The longest span is 700 feet with a height above the forrest floor or 160 feet!

Overall a good evening nightlife tour. Luckily it did not rain (that would have been miserable!). Booked the tour on line and the company came and picked us up from our hotel and dropped us back afterwards (we were in a centrally located Santa Elena hotel). We went on the earlier evening tour - there were two time slots. There were a lot of people and they divided us into small groups - 8 in ours. They give you torches, but they are not the brightest, so if you happen to have your own bright torch, it's worth taking it. Our guide had eagle eyes and pointed out loads of animals and reptiles. He was very knowledgeable and passionate and clearly enjoyed taking people round. He had a spotting scope and helped take closer photos through the lens for people. He made sure everyone got to see things. He spoke great English. From a sleeping Toucan in the tree, sloths, an armadillo (amazing), spiders (several types), keel billed toucans, many bugs, ants and several snakes. There seemed to be snakes everywhere lurking in the trees or hanging above the frog ponds! The only negative is whilst we were a nice group with a lovely guide, there were quite a lot of other people on the property, so it was quite busy at times passing on trails, with lots of flashing torches. Overall I enjoyed it, but think I'd prefer a small quieter tour with less people around.

There's a wonderful collection of frogs here (& much more, including mounted displays of insects, butterflies and scorpions, amongst much else) - but lots of them are really small and hard to see. I went in the daytime which isn't the optimum, I know - the best time to observe them is early evening when they're more active. And take advantage of any guide that's there, who'll help you spot the frogs. I met a really helpful assistant/volunteer there, Anna, and if it hadn't been for my half an hour with her and another guest I wouldn't have seen half the frogs I did, other than the very visible and striking poison frogs. Choose your visit time carefully, and you'll have a fascinating time (& enhance all those nature walks you're probably also doing in the country).

This is a quiet unpopulated reserve, great trails and it's peaceful. The giant fig trees are magical, including the strangler fig which over time engulfs a host tree and grows to be very large.
Our fave part of Aguti is the newly opened wildlife sanctuary. We really lucked out to have the director, Daniel give us a private tour of the sanctuary. We got to see sloths up close, which could not survive due to injury and they are well cared for here. A tapir has a huge area to hunt for food and it loves to visit you at the chainlink fence. Amazing creature! It's related to a rhinoceros.
And exciting news, they will be housing 2 orphaned jaguar cubs in the next month. (The mother was taken by poachers). The design of the sanctuary is wonderful. There is privacy for the animals and humans can still see them up close safely.
We were very impressed with Daniel's stewardship and care he devotes to the animals.
We highly recommend a visit here. We will definitely return.

We went for the horse riding. The route was a really interesting two hour trek with amazing views and lots of wildlife. The horses were very calm and well behaved, even for our young kids. The owner is very friendly and the guide was very knowledgeable. Overall a great way to experience Monteverde
