Very large courtyard surrounded by yellow painted cloisters. Unfortunately the church was closed. Monastery is on the hill and is nicely visible from center square of the town.
The rest of the town is also painted yellow.

The archaeological site of Izamal is pretty small compared to others in the area.
It's located in the very center of Izamal village - in fact the Mayan town enabled the town to be built, as the Spaniards used its stones as foundations for their buildings, even for the Convent.
Doing so, they demolished 4 other pyramids that were in the area with only one left standing - the Kinich Kak Moo, God of Sun pyramid. It's one of only few pyramids on entire Yucatan you can still climb and enjoy the views from the top.
Also, the site is totally free to enter with no admission fee.

In one of the buildings near the monastery is this small folk art museum. There are a lot of art pieces on display, also local dresses and stoneware.

Located two blocks away from the convent, it is one of the largest pyramids built by the Maya. The access is free, though the entrance is a bit hidden between two buildings. The pyramid is only partially restored so if you're expecting Teotihuacan-style edifice, you might be disappointed.

When you drive to merida from The riviera maya don’t forget to get off the highway and make a quick stop in this beautiful yellow town. Plan it so that you can stop here for lunch. A hidden gem

Amazing cave cenote! We had the entire place to ourselves for most of the time. The water was crystal clear and a comfortable temperature to swim. Bathrooms were clean, but maybe needed some repairs for a few items. Great “off the beaten path” gem!

Located across the street from the famous Convent of San Antonio this market sports yellow-white arcades reminiscent of the religious edifice which it faces. It is a typical small-town Mexican market with a mix of food, clothes, and trinkets.

Amazing place, the art gallery is located one block away from Izamal plaza, where you can enjoy art exhibitions from several mexican artists.

The place has a fresh sense and a unique atmosphere. Fantastic spot if you want to take some cool selfies or pictures too.

The artworks goes from paintings, etchings, to sculptures and ceramics.

This is a must-visit if you travel to Izamal (a small “Pueblo mágico” from Yucatán).

Little shop selling good quality souvenirs at reasonable prices. They carry some very well made items. Definitely above the common level. Prices are very reasonable.
