My older teen loved the hike and the views. My younger daughter did not enjoy the hike, but loved the views. The guides were very helpful, in a good mood and made some good vibes.

We did it after Koko railway and the lighthouse trail so probably better to do it as your only hike of the day. The views at the top are awesome but it’s too windy to appreciate them for long, plus there’s a lot of grit in the wind. The stairs at the top are the hardest part. You’ll need lots of water - we ran out with about 2/3 of the trip back left to go (only took 500ml each). Also good shoes - lots of trip hazards and potential to slip. - Teacher20052013DeLand, FL561 contributionsThis place is nestled in between two magnificent pieces of property - one with a house, the other with a house being built on the site. Getting down to the caves you have to traverse a very steep path that can be treacherous if it has gotten wet. Not for the faint of heart as there is not really a railing to hang onto the entire way but rather a chain link fence and then a chain that dangles. You arrive at a carpark and centre which includes a small store. The car park opens at 8am and costs $7. The Manoa Falls Trail is a really scenic walk with untouched bushland. It’s relatively easy although you walk over rocks covered with mud (don’t wear your favourite white shoes), so it can be a little slippery. The trail ends at a small lookout and pool. The day we went the falls were not like the promo photos due to the drought, but still awesome to reach. We did the trail in 45min up, and 30mins back.

Additionally, this volcanic mud takes some scrubbing to come off. I had some on leg even after a swim in the ocean & the hotel pool. There is a parking lot at the start. It took us about an hour to get to the waterfall. You'll be walking over some small boulders and across a small river. The trail is marked with ribbons and navigation is straight forward. I wore my bathsuit so I could just get into the water when we reached the waterfall. Very muddy and you end up walking through the water a few times to get to the falls at the end. It takes a good 75 minutes plus to make it to the falls with the mud, the walk up, and all the tree roots you had to navigate through. If it had just rained, I don't know if we would have done it or continued on. It was dry for a few days so we decided to go and it was still muddy, so we knew if it had rained there def could be some issues with deeper standing water and mud spots that would cover your entire shoe up your leg! All in all, good hike, def recommend it, and bring water! We did bring bug spray and used it, had no issues with bugs at all, not sure if it was the bug spray or not, but we had zero issues with bugs. - Mitch1 contributionErik gave concise clear instructions about scuba diving and the different parts of the equipment to use before we jumped in the water. He also explained what to do in different cases of emergency and tested us in practice to make sure we could react appropriately just in case. Safety first!
Best part was that he helped look for cool sea life like turtles, reef sharks, and octopi to get cool shots of us with them while diving.
All in all, great service and great vibes. As we are from Aus and very hesitant to drive over there and wanted to get to the North Shore, we opted for a private and custom tour so we could still get out and about. We booked through Custom Island Tours as they had great reviews! Prices start from US $500 for 1-2 ppl. You get picked up from your hotel in a comfy van with your own private tour guide for the day. The good thing with this tour is you could customise it yourself and go at your own leisure. Our guide (John) was super friendly, knowledgeable about the culture and lifestyle, and kept us interested and entertained the whole day! There was plenty of time at each stop over and we got to do everything on our list, no crowds and lots of photo op’s. We really enjoyed our day and can’t recommend these guys highly enough! Ryan is by far the guy you want to help shepherd you around, it makes it much more fun when he joined us 1/2 way through the tour and showed us all the great sightseeing places. I highly recommend paying the extra to have him as your tour guide as he knows the area and the safety of getting around the streets and whereabouts! He also sent us info on great places to eat and things to do! We will send our family and friend his way and will be sure to give him our business again! Thank you Ryan for a most enjoyable experience!
