The palace itself was beautiful plus the history of the kings and royalty of Hawaii was very enlightening and heart-rending too!

The entrance fee to this museum is by donation. We found the exhibitions to be incredibly interesting as they showcase the war in the Pacific and the part played by people of Hawaiian/Japanese descent.

We took our son to the Aviation Museum. He enjoyed seeing the planes and the maps. My husband loves History so he knew all the history and could explain it with visuals the museum offered.

This museum was very cool in the way it was organized, with the courtyards and the different galleries. It was a surprise that there were so many cool things to look at. With that said, the best part of visiting is the add-on ticket to visit Shangri-La, Doris Duke's estate. Advance tickets for Shangri-La are required and sell out quickly during busy times.

The former home of heiress Doris Duke becomes Shangri La, a museum of Islamic art and design. The five-acre site is on the ocean with beautifully landscaped grounds. Access is via a fifteen-minute bus ride from the Honolulu Museum of Art. A reservation and additional ticket are required for Shangri La.
The craftmanship of the architectural details is outstanding. Highlights include carved marble panels, amazing detailed walls, ceilings and columns, tile settings on the floors and walls, rare vases and other artwork.
Tour is largely self-guided. Three docents were onsite to answer questions. There were three short oral presentations in the introduction gallery, the central courtyard and the Mihrab gallery. All three presentations were worthwhile. The new Qajar gallery was my favorite.

This was a fun shopping area to explore. There are some chain stores, but also many local stores. We found lots of gems in this shopping center that we had been looking for.

The driver was yelling at me as I'd forgot to wear my Face Nappy, which as of last Monday many States have scrapped. We used the number 20 from the airport to our hotel on Ala Moana Blvd. It's quick and easy to get down to Waikiki Beach on the 20, but it comes back a different way, so to save the walk, people take it to the terminus that's where you then have the 20 min Tea Break. Use the number 60 from Ala Moana Blvd at the Centre for a 2 1/2 hour trip up the Mountains.....amazing. Also, use ABC stores to get cash, as their ATM's allow up to $600 a pop and only charge $2.75. You can buy your 3 day Holo Card for the bus :3 days for $16.50 a great deal.

This grocery store is absolutely beautiful, and the prepared foods section is heaven. I would kill to have a Foodland where I live in New England. The poke selection was unreal and reasonably priced. I did take down a star because the actual poke we got needed more seasoning (it was on the blander side), and the spam musubi had too much rice for the amount of spam in it. Overall, I would definitely come back and try more food here though!

Absolutely amazing place to learn about the overthrow of the Hawaiian Islands by the US. The palace is in pristine condition and full of Hawaiian history.

We attended Easter mass at St Augustine by the Sea Roman Catholic Church. The church and service were beautiful and meaningful. The priest came in wearing sandals but took them off during the mass. The music provided by a man playing the piano and singing was so poignant. A palm fond was used to sprinkle holy water on attendees. This is a traditional Easter practice in all Catholic Churches on Easter. The church itself is an A-frame modernistic design and has a copper-covered roof. There are twenty magnificent stained-glass windows depicting the history of the Catholic Church in Hawaii. As you walk into the church, you can help but be awed with how interior’s wooden beams seem to flow from the floor to the ceiling. Near the entrance is a side altar dedicated to Father Damien, the priest who worked with the lepers on Molokai. A small courtyard is filled with native flowers and a statue of St. Augustine. I would suggest getting their early to find a parking space in their small parking lot.

It is a supermarket, pharmacy, and department store all in one. I was told it was the "Japanese Walmart", but it is not. The layout is average, yet it had a very good produce department. Hawaiian souvenirs are relatively cheap here, and this is a great store to visit if you forgot something for your stay on the island. What ever item that you will need, "Donki" will have it. We noticed many toys for children, but were surprised that there were not more products from Japan. Prices are decent to low for items here, and are considered a bargain for Honolulu. Parking is very limited.

Waikiki Aquarium is almost 120 years old it deserves your support (& you have to wear a mask) to view the simply delightful small attractions showing off the tiny part of marine life, large tank with a couple of sharks for bigger insights, well worth a trip
