- LoAunia J10 contributionsLearned and saw alot of interesting info about Pearl Harbor. Very touching and recommend that everyone see it. Seeing the ship was amazing as well.Written 27 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- WanderingFarmerPayson, UT487 contributionsThis was probably the best stops we made while on Oahu, to us more moving than the USS Arizona. Acres and acres of headstones along with the descriptions of the modern conflicts this country has been in. The names of those who have fought and their human remains have not been returned is humbling to say the lease. Beautiful area and well worth slowing down to take it all in.Written 29 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ITRTVirginia46,564 contributionsThe Mausoleum land is one of three places in Hawaii that are sovereign (the others being the Iolani Palace and Pu’ukohola Heiau. Because of this classification, the Hawaiian flag can officially fly without the American flag. When you walk onto the grounds, a sense of peace and calm envelops you. The mausoleum is the final resting place of Hawaiian royalty including King
King Kamehameha II through King Kamehameha V, and Queen Liliuokalani, the last reigning monarch of the Hawaiian Kingdom. There are two crypts and a chapel on the grounds. It is about 1.5 miles from downtown Honolulu and worth a trip.Written 25 June 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It's got very cool architecture and has been there for quite a long time.Written 30 June 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - 無名World9,893 contributions... this place is not the Bowfin Memorial Ship and Park by the Arizona Monument Museum - no that place draws the hordes. This is just a quiet neighborhood park of sorts that can't be accessed unless you got military ID. And that neighborhood on Pearl Harbor is a bunch of dorms/barracks for current young submariners (I think) on active duty. Plenty of monuments in this park honoring the submarines and crews that didn't come back from WWII. Nice little reminder - in your face - many times a day - of what could be. No really it's all very cool and well done and maintained too. And a nice and shady place to relax which is actually a requisite condition of any great park. There's some very solemn monuments of different types as well as some interesting educational information panels dotted along the small area. Got some torpedo static displays in there. The crowning showpiece of the park is the tower (sail/fin?) of the US Parche - an extremely historical piece of American naval history. There's a sign that says you can't go on it but if I had some kids, I'd toss it and let them jump around and have fun. I know this is where Capt Red Ramage was when he led his great men into battle and earned his Medal of Honor and Navy Cross. Whoah, maybe I should try to get the kids to soak it in about walking in the footsteps a great national hero like Capt Red. There it is. Hey close by is a historical naval chapel too, but I haven't figured out how to get in and see it. I will soon.Written 28 January 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
