- maui2usSan Diego, CA54 contributionsJust go. Get naked. Prettiest water, softest sand. Just go. Nothing better than swimming naked in the ocean. Don't worry about what you look like.Written 10 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- DPHouQuesta, NM234 contributionsThankfully the January storms that ravaged some Maui beaches has had no adverse effects on beautiful Keawakapu beach! It us in perhaps the best shape we have ever seen. - Garry G8 contributionsFirst trip to Maui with family including grandchildren. We found Ulua to be a wonderful beach for our wants. My first time snorkeling ,enjoyed it. To be honest we enjoyed all the beaches in Kihei and Wailea.Written 2 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - BruinDanFullerton, CA3,367 contributionsLocated not far from the resorts and condominiums of Wailea and Makena, Maluaka Beach is a public beach popular with both tourists and locals. My wife and I visited here during mid-October 2024.
To drive to the beach from the Makena, Wailea or Kihei area, go south on Makena Alanui Drive, past the Makena Beach & Golf Resort. In about a quarter mile, follow the signs and turn right onto Makena Keononio Road and you'll see a small public parking lot on your right. From there walk through the resort parking area and you will eventually see a walkway down to the beach.
The beach is wide with soft sand. There are public restrooms, showers and a grassy picnic area. The surf was gentle, making it suitable for children. We saw people wading, swimming, boogie boarding, snorkeling and surf fishing. It’s the sort of beach you imagine when you think of Maui, and we’re glad we spent the better part of a day there.Written 30 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It exceeded all of our expectations! Beautiful scenery of the ocean and mountains. Gorgeous flowers along the way. What a wonderful way to start your day invigorating all of your senses. We will definitely be back!!Written 8 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

Lots of free parking and only a small walk to the beach. Would recommend!Written 7 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The Ritz Carlton and many other large hotels and condos are just a little further walk. There are several restaurants located including a very good brewery, Waikiki Brewing Co, that has a varied selection of food items including a kids menu. There are many higher end stores but there are also some classic Hawaiian apparel shops. There is an ABC store as well as the Island Market which is great for meals to go and some grocery items. At dinner, the ice cream shop, Lappert's, can have an extra long line so either go during the day or if you see no line or a short one....go!!Written 5 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - kbailey1088Columbia, SC142 contributionsAmazing private beach right by turtle cove. We snorkels every day with a dozen or more sea turtles. The water was a bit stirred up due to the current but still amazing to see the turtles close. They would swim right up to us and float by as we took picturesWritten 4 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ron cFinksburg, MD1,033 contributionsHad an awesome beach dive and a bucket list item checked off when seeing a white tipped reef shark in a cave not far off the beach.Written 26 June 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Edwin GNewcastle, WA5 contributionsThis is probably our favorite beach in South Maui though the access is a little harder now due to home construction activities. Also, at this time, the sand is at a rather slanted angle, making it a bit more challenging to stroll down the beach. However, the snorkeling is good on clearer water days and there are usually several turtles swimming by. Boogie boarding is often very good here, though this year the water was comparatively calm when we were there.Written 10 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
