Cross Mountain is more of a climb than Apparition Hill as it is longer, and the rocks are more difficult to walk over and around. The rocks are very slick so be sure to wear good walking shoes with a grip. As you walk up, you will see bronze plates depicting the Mysteries of the Rosary. You will likely hear folks or groups reciting the Rosary on the way up. At the top of the hill is the large Cross that you can see from most places in town. The Cross is, as expected, huge. You can also get some great views of the town and surrounding area from here. It is a beautiful area, but again, the climb can be very difficult for a lot of people. I am a strong hiker and the length and incline was not a problem – the slippery large rocks were the issue. I suggest you try Apparition Hill first and if that was doable, then consider Cross Mountain. Note that you feel a great sense of peace on Cross Mountain, as you do in many places in Medjugorje.

I have been around Medjugorje several times, but I have never been able to climb the Hill of Apparitions.
First of all, you are struck by the huge number of stalls with hundreds of souvenirs with the image of Our Lady, you can even buy a lighter. In the parking lot you can even buy olive oil and, interestingly, rakija :)
The approach to the Hill is unpleasant. Lots of slipping stones, you have to be really careful not to fall. It's not far though, about 15/20 minutes and you're at the top.
This is a place where you can pray to Our Lady in concentration, it is quiet here despite the large number of people visiting this place.
You can go down a different path than you went up, but both are unpleasant to walk on.

This is a very tall statue of the Risen Christ. The statue is solid bronze and by a miracle (as the source is unexplained) a small amount of water appears near the knee of the statue. There was a line every time we went to visit the statue with folks wiping the statue and praying. Therefore, I did not see the water. Our tour guide said there is perhaps a drop a day – and that drop is quickly wiped off by tourists. It is a very peaceful place as everyone stands quietly in line waiting their turn. The very beautiful Illuminous Mysteries of the Rosary mosaics are in this areas as are the Stations of the Cross.

A beautiful church in a hugely significant place for Catholics. Would it be too much to ask for a sheet in something other than Bosnian/Serbocroat to make it more accessible for the 3 million visitors a year? You can confess in miriad languages!

Lovely atmosphere - very serene and peaceful. I enjoyed it more than the church itself. It was quiet with a lot of women praying.

These are large, beautiful mosaic tile works on the grounds of St. James’ church depicting the Illuminous Mysteries of the Rosary. Be sure to visit these in both the day and also at night. At night, they are lit up and they appear to glow as the light hits the mosaics.

We shopped here during our stay, and was pleasantly surprised with the shops here. It's worth a visit, just a few euro from the town centre.

A most wonderful experience especially in the warm, balmy evening. Wonderful violin and guitar music and prayer in different languages.
Hudreds of people attend yet a 'opin' could be heard dropping such is the silence in between the prayer and praise.

The languages spoken at these Confessional Rooms are posted at the doors of these rooms such as English, Italian, etc.

Lines are formed outside of these rooms. Both priests and people confessing have privacy using these rooms for hearing confessions.

This is the home of Nancy and Patrick and also the Sacred Heart Retreat House that hosts retreats for priests, nuns and seminarians. We visited the castle with our tour group and the castle is quite breathtaking. The architecture is amazing with all the stone buildings and castle-like structures as are all the flowers and plants. The grounds are quite large and there is a lot to see. There are statues of Jesus and Mary throughout the grounds along with three small chapels. The first is a small stone chapel, the second is a larger more modern looking chapel, and the third is also a smaller chapel. The third chapel is beautiful with blue walls and blue ceiling, paintings of angels and stained-glass windows behind the altar with a statue of Jesus and the Divine Mercy painting. As we were on a tour, Patrick, the owner, gave a talk about his spiritual conversion and how his life had been before moving to Medjugorje. It is an amazing story. His wife also gave an impromptu talk outside.
