My first advice is to pay for the small boat tour. This lets you go into the smaller areas and have a more personalized experience with your guide. It’s worth it. This company is organized and professional but the guides are also super friendly and chock full of personality. It’s hard to even describe the up close gator experiences we had! It’s not like out in the distance…it’s like your guide knowing where all these gators live and hang around out in the bayou. Taking you out for some one-on-one introductions! Plus the airboat is super fun to ride in. I went with teenagers, who LOVED this excursion. There was another family with us with grade school kids who also loved it. This is a “must do” if you are in the area. Break away from the French Quarter. Put down that Po’ Boy and get out on one of these boats!!

Captain Jason was wonderful. He showed us all size gators and was so informative about the swamp and bayou areas. It was a great way to see and learn about the swamp, bayou area and animals. You also can’t miss the gators chomping on marshmallows.

Great Experience. 30 min bus ride from down town New Orleans. There is snack, gift shop and bathroom on premises: Highly recommend riding with with Capt. Jason . Very knowledgeable and Entertaining. He stopped along the excursion so you can take pictures of the gators . He also feed and kiss the friendly gators . We also got chance to hold a baby gator that he had on the boat

Our tour guides, Cheyenne and Megan, were awesome! They were funny, hospitable, and helped comfort our hesitant guests on their first zip lining experience. We had a great time. I’d highly recommend to anybody looking to get out of the city.

I did the early morning swamp tour with a work colleague (left central New Orleans at 8 am).
The whole tour was very well organised from start to finish. The minibus that picked us up was clean and punctual and our driver friendly and professional. Upon arrival at the reserve, you can visit the gift shop before your boat tour starts and I got to hold a baby alligator in my hands!

The actual swamp tour lasts a good 2 hours but they went by very quickly. Our captain Emmett was very knowledgeable and clearly passionate about what he does. Having done a swamp tour before down in Florida, this was definitely much better. The variety of flora and wildlife we saw was remarkable - from alligators to raccoons, to turtle to a rare baby blue heron - it was a true immersion in the natural environment of the Louisiana bayou.

I would definitely recommend this tour and will be looking at booking more tours with Cajun encounters when I come back to New Orleans next year.

The experience on the airboat was awesome. Our boys (16, 13, 10) absolutely loved it. The smiles on their faces when we were drifting in the boat were priceless. The only critique we have would be less talking from our captain. We were parked for about 30 min total time while he was talking. He was very informative, just wish it could have been condensed into less time which would have allowed for more boat riding time.

Beautiful grounds of Oak Alley plantation provide amazing background for great pictures. The self guided walking tour through slave houses gives a glimpse of what it was like to live as a slave on the plantation, but if you're looking for a DETAILED tour on history of slaves on sugar plantation this is not the tour for it.
The best part of this full day excursion is by far the swamps tour. And they mean it when they say "tour goes on rain or shine". Although it rained hard for most part of our swamps tour our guide tried really hard to make it fun for us and even got🐊 to come on the boat! When the rain finally stopped towards the end of the tour, we were finally able to enjoy a speedy ride airboat is known for. Overall, I say 5/5 experience. A must do when in the area.

My husband and I decided to make reservations for a carriage ride on Thursday, July 21. Our guide was Shannon along with his trusty partner Ranchard. We enjoyed our tour and the history Shannon provided us…very knowledgeable. This was a great way to spend one of our last nights in NOLA. Tip: MAKE A RESERVATION

Very nice tour if you’re looking to relax and get away from the French Quarter for the day. The tour starts with a bus ride to the Swamp Boat Tour on the bayou. Our boat operator, Reggie, was extremely knowledgeable and had a great, dry sense of humor. We saw alligators and had a great time. After that, we took a long bus ride (about an hour) to the Oak Alley plantation. Two hours is a perfect amount of time if you want to get a snack, briefly walk the grounds, and then take the house tour. Very informative. I wish I caught our bus driver/tour guide’s name because he was excellent. He told us tons of interesting facts and stories about New Orleans as we drove to and from each location. I’d highly recommend this tour for a relaxing day away from the big city

Interesting, informative trip around bayou in slow moving boat-less exciting than the high speed airboat but also less noisy!
Our guide was pleasant approachable and knowledgeable about all things swamp related and we saw a few gators along the way.
We opted to take coach with grey lines to park and back, and our driver Alton was very friendly and full of interesting facts about New Orleans, the mississippi and hurricanes that have affected the area.

Isabelle is super! Her tours are great! She may be a little more expensive, but the old saying, “You get what you pay for!” is true! When I booked, she was the only one that took you on an airboat and two plantations.

I have read folks complain about it was too long, not in my opinion! Folks read the details. She is upfront about the tour length. The swamp and plantations are a good ways from New Orleans and each other, so there is a lot of travel time. I would recommend adding an hour to the tour, see details below. Time flew and was very enjoyable. This tour was my favorite thing I did on my vacation!

Rene was our driver and guide. He was excellent! Felt like I had known him all my life! He is full of great information from history to what to eat and where to eat it!

I recommend booking a tour near the beginning of your visit to take advantage of some of Rene’s recommendations. Can’t go wrong with his recommendations!

The swamp tour was one of my favorite things I did on my visit to New Orleans! I wanted to travel with a small group and ride on a small airboat! It was great we saw lots of alligators.

I did not know it included a mud facial! We went during low tide, and we sat on the front row. I have not heard anyone say, you get mud splashed all over you on the front row. We did! We were covered. Luckily the mud washed out of our clothes. We did have to walk around the rest of the day muddy. I was washing mud off me all day long. Even so, it was great! I would recommend letting folks know you can get very muddy, especially on the front row. I am not sure if this happens often because Rene seemed to be shocked. All it would take is to hand folks a piece of plastic or a trash bag.

Laura Plantation was lovely. I wanted to visit a creole plantation. The history is incredible and unimaginable!

Houmas House and Gardens are beautiful! We really didn’t have time to walk through the gardens or museum. I would recommend adding another hour to this tour to be able to see everything. One of the craziest things here is the owner lets you tour his bedroom and office that he uses every day! The first wedding is so sweet!

Very few gluten-free items available at lunch. Red beans and rice were very tasty. However, that and a salad was about it for gluten-free, according to the signage on the offerings. Adult drinks and ice cream available for a fee.

Once again, you can’t go wrong touring with Isabelle!

Really enjoyed this educational adventure into the Louisiana swamp. Our guide was passionate about the area and was able to provide lots of interesting insights. We saw several alligators during the trip although don't expect to see a huge array of other wildlife! From pick up to drop off everything went pretty smoothly. Would recommend for anyone with a bit of time to spare during a trip to New Orleans.
