The presentation concentrates on the way "house" slaves were treated. It was comprehensive and moving. It is difficult to understand how educated, supposedly Christian people, could be so careless of the rights of other human beings.

A museum in two distinct parts; Mardi Gras and Floods & Hurricanes with the emphasis on Katrina.
Excellent intro to history of Mardi Gras, its customs, floats, masquerade balls. Some fabulous outfits.
The existence of Zulu blackface to this day is amazing. Guardianistas would be up in arms!
The part on hurricanes was amazing with a number of great films.
There were certainly many heroes and villains with expert predictions that were ignored.
Astonishing to see houses still being built of wood!
Great side exhibition of costumes of San Nicholas.
Didn't notice total cost or number of lives lost.
Film at end not that interesting. Overall a stunning museum.

Great tour that provided detailed information into the architecture and history of the home. I wish this tour provided more information on the enslaved individuals.

We’re not jazz aficionados so found this a decent evocation of the jazz era, with the emphasis on New Orleans.
Surprised not more about Louis Armstrong, guess he has to make do with a very dull park a mile away.
Good to see a pic of Charlie Watts visiting, as well as acknowledgment that Swamp Blues influenced the Stones.
The US Mint was a nice addition to the jazz museum, because the building was the US Mint before.

The experience could have been more about the history of New Orleans and Voodoo. It was a hodgepodge of the meanderings of our Tour Guide talking about spirituality, and completely unrelated facts that left me puzzled. Some guests even walked away at one point in time. The web site offers a "Voodoo Walking Tour" with local voodoo attractions, including Congo Square and Marie Laveau's house. We only saw one local voodoo attraction (the museum), we looked at "gunshot" houses, we stepped in a deli to look a menu (!), saw (the outside of) Marie Laveau's house and finished in Congo Square. Underwhelming.

This was the highlight of our trip to New Orleans! My son is a budding jazz musician and he was enthralled by the memorabilia and Mr. Al's presentation. I honestly feel he has managed to house the soul of the city in those walls!

By far my best experience in NOLA. I absolutely loved the museum and the staff working there are true gems. As a South African I don’t know enough about the free people of color and I learned so much during the hour. I would highly recommend booking and going. The lady that gives the hour long presentation delivers it which a way that you hang on to every word she says.

Don't miss this museum, housed in a beautiful house in Treme, which tells a fascinating and central - if often overlooked - part of New Orleans history. The guides are absolutely superb - engaging, knowledgeable and welcoming. Highly recommended!

Very cool museum with some great exhibit. Mom and pop museum that is free admission, but they do take donations. Liz the owner was very nice. If you’re checking out the shops on Magazine you must stop by.

I had some time to spare on my last day in New Orleans and noticed that my hotel was right next to the Museum of Trade and Finance.

Entry is free, though every visitor has to go through a security check. The entire museum is housed in the ground floor of the building, and all exhibits are displayed in an area not more than 5m wide by 15 meters. Not at interesting for kids, but a interesting visit for people who have some basic knowledge of finance and are interested in learning the roots of the Fed.

Free and open to the public. Chances are you’ll cross this in your exploration of the French quarter so why not have a look. It doesn’t take but about 10 minutes to see everything and the courtyard is beautiful. Great photo op with nice scenery in background. Although they do not let you go into the courtyard so you can take photos on balcony. Small pottery collection and history of building. Great break from souvenir shops

A waste of time -I like to support community based museums but these guys don’t even try - all they have are a few photos and a poorly curated exhibit of drawings of James Baldwin -

Best explanation of what happened during hurricane Katrina. Although a bit out of the way, bus stop right there. Working on a flooded house museum next door.

I had a wonderful visit with artist Charles Gillam at this Algiers Point Destination. Charles is incredibly personable and filled with stories about the Blues greats and also about fellow artists and New Orleans history. Most of his art is for sale and incredibly affordable although you can visit the museum with or without purchasing. A taxi/LYFT ride from the heart of the French Quarter is only like $6 and completely worth a trip. Pure Magic for Folk Art Lovers!
