    Truly done well.
The history of the museum is as interesting as the exhibits.
6 buildings, going to be 7!
In 5 hours we didn't see it all.
    Our favorites were:
    The Museum Men exhibit
    The Bastone exhibit
    The Beyond all Boundaries movie
    The Boeing hall

This was out of the way. The Hop-On Hop-Off bus dropped us what they said was nearby … when we finally found it by asking people coming out of the Convention Center, we were enchanted.

This is a great tour, preceded by an informative film and Mac was a wonderful guide, very keen to answer all our questions.

We really got a flavour of the Mardi Gras parades and even saw a likeness of our Queen!

Excellent place to visit to learn about the whiskey making process. A number of interactive exhibits as well as so small samples. The gift shop has very good prices on a number of liquor products.

The guided tour was informative and entertaining, while still being empathetic and thought provoking; Owen, our guide, did an incredible job. I’m not a healthcare worker, nor was anyone in my group, and we all found it interesting and relevant to our lives today.

it was fascinating. Granted it is not everyone's "cup-of-tea" (like the young woman I did not even know who kept grabbing my arm whenever one of the insects did something unexpected) but is enjoyable. Half the fun is finding the insects in their environment (there is a reason they call a "leaf bug" a "leaf bug") and listening to the docents--who are extremely knowledgeable and passionate about their "bugs"--tell about their charges. Watching the ants build their tunnels and observing the honey bees going to/from their hive and working were amazing experiences. I spent a long time in the butterfly exhibit simply watching those beautiful and graceful creatures as they flew or rested or spread their wings and observing all of the incredible colors and features (same young woman liked that part and was thrilled when one landed in her hair).
I do not know if I would make it an individual visit but when paired w/ the aquarium and zoo it is a pleasant time.

Superb! Comprehensive! Everything you might have wondered about New Orleans is here! Comparable to a Smithsonian museum. And free. A wonderful way to gain a perspective of New Orleans, removed from the present-day distractions right outside. I am glad that we did not miss it.

I visited this museum out of curiosity. I enjoyed learning about hurricane Katrina affected New Orleans. I loved getting to see the Mardi Gars costumes and floats. I would definitely come back.

Didn't remember that most museums are closed on Mondays - so boohoo - didn't get to visit the actual museum but the extensive sculpture garden, which in itself, is remarkable and the gardens lovely - it takes so time to fully appreciate the variety and diversity of the exhibits and the grounds are gorgeous - i don't post pictures but if I did I am sure it wouldn't capture the exquisite and intensive planning that must have gone into this landscape

Oh my, what a great experience, this is a must do. Although closed on Sunday, the museum was hosting a private event for USF students and Second Line performers. We were allowed in and told we wouldn't be charged (we requested to pay and did so). The educator was amazing with first-hand knowledge of the history, evolution and current state of Krewes, Mardi Gras, Indians, Voodoo, Spys, Baby Dolls and much, much more. Adroitly delivered and great questions from the USF students. Dominique has curated an irreplaceable rotating collection and the museum is a cultural, historic and ethnic touchstone. We were blessed to experience this.

We’re not jazz aficionados so found this a decent evocation of the jazz era, with the emphasis on New Orleans.
Surprised not more about Louis Armstrong, guess he has to make do with a very dull park a mile away.
Good to see a pic of Charlie Watts visiting, as well as acknowledgment that Swamp Blues influenced the Stones.
The US Mint was a nice addition to the jazz museum, because the building was the US Mint before.

This was a very interesting museum. It told the stories of many individuals who fought and of those who died on the confederate side of the civil war. As well as the reasons for the war and presented many interesting facts, such as only 6% of southerners owned slaves. The volunteers were a wealth of information. My husband and I spent 3 hours here.

Worth a visit, some info on history of New Orleans and the view is good but not spectacular. There is a game where you have steer the ship into dock which is fun for adults and kids, and there is a cafe up there. VUE is something to put on your list but not a must do experience.

This is definitely a great place to go for the history buffs! You learn more about the history of New Orleans, especially the Spanish occupied era. Some of the building was not well marked. We had to really study the map to find out how to get to one specific area. Then, we did not realize that when we got to the second floor, we were starting out of order, as they assume you came up the central staircase (we had used the elevator). We were so confused about many of the displays because we had missed the first room that gave the general background information to the exhibit.

If you are someone who needs lots of cool things to see as opposed to reading information, this is probably not the museum for you. There ARE some cool things to see, but we definitely got the wow from reading information about things that did not look particularly intriguing.

Fun place to visit. You get an upclose look at many of the costumes specifically crafted for New Orleans parades and balls. Also able to try on various costumes.

This museum is perfect! Reasonable admission price, not really handicapped accessible. When I visited it was set up for Christmas time and the exhibits were just lovely. I liked how when you walked in a room, a voice came on telling you what would be going on in the room at that time.
