Ulun danu beratan temple is beautifully located on lake beratan. It is very important for worship place in Balinese culture.
There is an overlooking garden which is well maintained.
As a foreigner one is not allowed in the main temple but we are fortunate to witness the ceremony sometimes.
The distance from kuta is about 2 to 2.5 hours one way. One has to leave early in the morning.

The Bali Butterfly Park is a nice park for viewing various species of butterflies and to see the surrounding gardens area. There are various pathways in the Park gardens that provides ample opportunities to see the butterflies. The Park is lush with foliage and plants which provides a nice habitat. The visit to the Bali Butterfly Park was a nice experience, but I felt that the facility could have been better maintained.

Balian is the perfect spot if you want peace and quiet. Practical points for families. There are 2 cash ATM on the main high way road turn off, as well as 2 mini marts for all your basic needs. Its a 20 minute walk from the beach to the main road turn off. If you are travelling with little ones you might need a push chair as there is small steep hill to get to the beach. Handful of restaurants which are all good and have a variety of different foods from local to pizza/burgers. Istana was our favourite for meals. The beach is large and un crowed but be careful re water as its a surf beach and has rips etc. Recommend you stay where there is a pool. We stayed Balian Breeze villa which was perfect for families.
