- J R5 contributionsCouldn’t go to New York without going to Coney Island , we were really lucky as we visited in late October and the weather was great, 25 degrees. We went on a Sunday as I researched that the park was only open at weekends during the autumn although I’m not certain about this .Our visit was via a coach trip so we were dropped off right outside the amusements without having to find our own way from Times Square.
It was a lovely day ,sea , sand , walking along the boardwalk and enjoying Nathan’s famous hotdogs , so glad we went .Written 14 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The views of lower Manhattan and the harbor are superb. This has been a film site often. Good place to come in pleasant weather, stroll and sit. The length of the Promenade is only a few blocks.Written 11 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Thomas LiamMontreal, Canada408 contributions"Brooklyn Bridge Park" is a relatively self-explanatory name for this communal space. It is a park, yes. But it is also a vista, and potentially the most important activity you can do in the city of Brooklyn.
We arrived in the park via Ferry, which was already a stupendous experience in and of itself (I highly recommend it). As we began to wander, the sun also began to set. We were treated to incredible views of the Bridge and the Manhattan skyline in the distance. We could also see the Manhattan Bridge and One Manhattan Square as well.
As someone who has never been particularly romantic about the city of New York, this experience may have been a turning point. There is scarcely a moment in my life that I could describe as majestically as this one. I now understand why this city is a special place: nowhere in the world could you experience a view anywhere near as unique as this. And it makes you proud to be a human being; because you see right before you all we are capable of creating when we work together; the beauty and hope we can bring to this world, the structures we can build with the bountiful resources given to us by this planet, the literal streets and paths we can forge to bring every single person closer together in less time than ever.
As we watched the sunset, and the lights illuminate on the bridge, we sat in total wonder for an undefined amount of time. Eventually we returned to the ferry, and stood in silence watching the bridge disappear over the horizon. We all knew what we had just experienced without having to utter a word.Written 16 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It focused on art and architecture and the way the area has changed. Good size group for the experience. Very cold but the tour guide kept us moving.Written 27 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- susieb1Northampton,60 contributionsIf you are in Manhattan during December definitely worth a visit. We got the subway over then had a 10 minute walk. The houses were amazing and so many were decorated. So glad we went!
Personally I wouldn't waste money booking a tour. We saw lots of them walking around but we enjoyed doing it at our own pace without being rushed.Written 20 December 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. To be fair, I've walked the MoMA and Whitney a lot so maybe they've lost their shine- but I really find this one is very well-curated and thought out. Give yourself. 3 hours if you want to look at all the details and floors.
If you are a fan of modern and contemporary art with a mix of art history- then you have to venture out of Manhattan and visit Brooklyn Museum. The subway stop is right outside so you won't have far to walk!Written 3 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It was great to visit the collection of subway trains from days past The quality of those trains was amazing when you care it to today's trains, which are mostly plastic and chrome.Written 16 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Patricia tNewark, NJ3 contributionsWent with a friend to visit the cemetery that I had not heard of. It was a wonderful visit on a wonderful day. The tour guide James was fabulous. He shared so much information. I couldn’t get enough. We were on a two hour trolley tour that could have extended for at least another hour. The monuments were so interesting, the trees and everything in the cemetery were well maintained. What an interesting and informative visit. Would love to back. Couldn’t keep in my head all that James shared I would have purchased a book on the spot if he was selling them.Written 14 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Thomas VOakland, CA18,490 contributionsWhat an amazing resource! It's a huge park in the middle of Brooklyn with subway stops all around, so it is easy to get to. It is so big that it has all sorts of activities, ball parks, picnic areas, gardens, forests, hiking areas. So much to see and do and it is so pretty, pretty.Written 13 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Greg HarrisBronx, NY2,125 contributionsThe Brooklyn Tabernacle is an absolute amazing and well regarded non-denomination evangelical church that’s located in Brooklyn, New York.
In February of 2019, I brought my wife and myself to attend service at the Brooklyn Tabernacle and we had a very enjoyable experience!!!
Starting in 1984, the church took on the name of the Brooklyn Tabernacle, and has been led by
Pastor Jim & Carol Cymbala since the early 1970’s.
The church has around 10, 000 members, and features three two hour services on a weekly basis.
The most notable aspect of the Brooklyn Tabernacle and also what attracted my wife and myself to visit is its infamous Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir.
The choir consists of over 200 members and they sing an extensive collection of riveting gospel songs. Their awesome talent and well acclaimed music has resulted in the choir receiving numerous Grammy records and opportunities to perform at prestigious venues, such as Carnegie Hall, Madison Square Garden and the Rockefeller Center.
Both my wife and I have found the music of
the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir to be quite captivating, inspirational and truly nourishing to our souls!!!
In addition to the great service, both my wife and I enjoyed the sermon delivered by Pastor Cymbala and were quite impressed with the tabernacle’s elegant interior settings!!!
If you looking to visit and attend the perfect church, then look no further than the Brooklyn Tabernacle. You’ll have an unforgettable experience!!!Written 22 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. At the southern end of Brooklyn, Brighton Beach is a serene, spacious place to enjoy the touch of nature. A stroll along the waterfront boardwalk is particularly relaxing.Written 16 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
