- Heather SPurcellville, VA9 contributionsBeautiful. Peaceful. Go in the early morning, and though you’ll have to dodge out of the way for a bike or two, it’s mostly empty outside if that. Well worth it.Written 10 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Steve BuckleyLondon, UK9,214 contributionsMy wife and myself are currently visiting family in Mountain View and on our daily walk to Shoreline earlier today we came across the San Francisco Bay Trail - an extensive Trail throughout the Bay Area.
It is certainly a very popular facility used by cyclists, runners and walkers alike and something that we will investigate in more detail on future visits!Written 7 January 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Lank SheldrakeElla, Sri Lanka147 contributionsListening to the Sounds of Nature we were able to be in the 'Silence' that we were looking for, in the Presence that we wanted to be in. Birds welcoming us to their habitat in order to enable us to merge with the essence of Nature that we undoubtedly belong with.
The swift movement of squirrels & rabbits we couldn't quite see as we were ourselves to fast in our thoughts, but the still and scintilatting waves of the bay somehow enabled us to 'slow down' from all the stresses that the city lifestyle impinge on us with the swift movement of life over the pretty rolling hills of San Francisco, CA.
We shall certainly return to this 'Lil' paradiso'
Highly Recommend this awesome Trail for even a short stroll to kick back, relax & unwind.Written 7 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Volunteers identified a route across San Francisco using park trails, stairs and city streets. The full trail is 17 miles. In two days, we have done 3 of the 5 segments. Super fun, great exercise, street art and views of the city. Highly recommend. We used a combination of the route sheets from the website and the All Trails app. All easy to follow.Written 10 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - TravelLeigh10Loveland, OH159 contributionsFun trail with some serious challenges if you take the sand stairs from the beach. It was rainy when we went but we still enjoyed the exercise the trail affords.Written 7 March 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Mellomom2016Tracy, California13 contributionsMy mom, daughter and I like to explore new things when we go to SF. This past week, we parked near the Legiom of Honor Museum (will visit that another time) and walked down to the coastal trail. We followed it north towards Lsnds End, beautiful scenery!! One set of stairs where we had to stop a few times, but my 81year old mom even made it!
I would have rated a 5 for beauty but I only wish they had given some mile markers along the way. We weren’t sure where we would end up -were going to call Uber if needed. Turned out fine, only 1/2 mule walk back to car on main road next to golf course-maybe it was betterr not knowing where we’d end up!!
We’re planning to catch the trail on our next visit st the Sutro Baths and eat at the Ifg House -can’t waitWritten 18 June 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The trail is 8 miles (4 miles up and 4 back) if you take the entire trail. It is a dirt road that is nearly all uphill going (4 miles). It offers beautiful views of the San Juan Valley and surrounding area. The hike is partially in full sun and partially in the shade of beautiful old oaks. We saw deer and beautiful plant life (January),
To find it, travel across the US 101 from San Juan and drive straight ahead about a quarter mile or so. There is not sign to indicate the trail head. Park along the farm land on a dirt road. You will probably see other vehicles parked here. Our group consisted of 3 in their 60's, a toddler in a stroller and his dad. It took us about 3+ hours. (In hindsight we would not have taken the stroller up this steep, dirt road!) Downhill can be hard on the knees...Written 4 February 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. While these stairs have not had any artistic work done on them, they are nice in their own plain sort of way. This set of steps is about 2 times as long as the Hidden Garden Stairs, with 200 plus steps in total. There are lots of trees in the middle of the steps (thus the inclusion or the word park in the name). Views here are nice with the Golden Gate Bridge and Golden Gate Park in front of you. These steps will get the blood pumping.Written 17 February 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- MarylineLew1 contributionWe were a group of 8 people, 6 visiting from overseas. It was easy to book online, easy to board and the staff was friendly. We also benefited of a beautiful weather on Thanksgiving weekend. It was a treat for our out-of-Bay area family.Written 2 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
