I saw the photographs of the rock stars from the 60's, including an upstairs pass to the orginal Abby Road photographs and more recent "pop" and political icons. The gallery staff were pleasant and low key with no pressure to buy. We were allowed to simply enjoy the display. They said they frequently handle this type of material.

Super duper display of 🎶 musicology of the bay area. Which is pretty provincial and doesn't provide sufficient space for other national music such as blues, jazz, hip hop etc.

We have previously purchased from ZK’s sister gallery, Eden Fine Art (right next door), and have always enjoyed the variety of mediums exhibited. Our interest this time was focused on two Charles Fazzino pieces that we have seen at other galleries. The ‘owner’, Eric, and the gallery director, Fiona, we’re great to work with. Eric loves to chat, and worked with us on pricing for both pieces. After a second visit, we made a deal (shipping included). We are familiar with the pricing on these pieces by other galleries, and felt that Eric gave us a very fair price. If you’re on or near the wharf, stop by and enjoy the art. It’s not inexpensive; but rest assured, if you like something and are willing to do some negotiating, you’ll receive a very fair price with shipping included.

On January 18, I attended the opening of Berggruen's latest show, John Alexander: Landscape and Memory & Mark di Suvero: Sculpture. I have enjoyed the events I've attended at the gallery. This was my second opening and in November I attended an artist talk on the works of Helen Frankenthaler, subject of their last show. The talk was led by two very knowledgeable scholars, and was very informative. The Frankenthaler paintings were beautiful and evocative.

This opening, like the previous one, was well-attended. The di Suvero and Alexander works are obviously not as important as the Frankenthalers, but were interesting on their own and in juxtaposition; the sculptures are abstract and the paintings are figurative.

In addition to the usual white wine and sparkling water, the gallery served vodka and some juices. In addition, the artists were in attendance. The facility itself is very impressive, an ultra modern space in a historic building. It's three floors are connected by a gorgeous glass and stainless steel staircase. (There is also an elevator.). I highly recommend a visit to Berggruen, especially because it's located across the street from SFMOMA and in between two other excellent galleries, Gagosian and Crown Point Press, which are also worth a stop.

    Christmas ideas .
Affordable. A little of traveling with your mind once you are at Xela!
Lovely atmosphere. Great selection of incense, palo santo etc. The jewelry is so different from what you see around.
    Thank you .

Heart street has some of the main Chinese art shops in Chinatown. They all sell the same stuff and it’s hard to tell if it’s real or copies….

I'd usually avoid an exhibition this small unless I'm really interested in what it covers. But this one, on the 100th anniversary of Bauhaus type design, was packed with examples, most from the early decades. It was fascinating. (It also helped that I could get in free through my membership with NARM, North American Reciprocal Museums.)

The entrance isn't marked. I've included a photo of it. The sign listing building tenants shows two different street addresses in (it seems) the same building. We were lucky that we met someone coming out of the building to tell us what to do. You might call ahead for directions.

I had visited this store many years ago and was so impressed that I bought a lovely necklace and earrings (which I still wear to this day!)
However, I had forgotten about it until I accidentally found it while strolling along Union Street (a wonderful shopping area, by the way, with many cute eating possibilities as well).
The store was as wonderful as I remembered, filled with absolutely amazing pieces of Artic art---sculpture and prints primarily, but also a very nice collection of jewelry. Again, I purchased some jewelry, but I stayed almost another hour looking at the incredible artwork and talking to the charming owner, "Lesley."
Apparently, this is the only store of its kind in San Francisco, and only one of a handful in the whole USA. If Inuit art holds any appeal to you, do not miss this store; it is like a little museum!

Wow, this place is so much more than a gallery, it is an experience! I not only invested in incredible art made in the studio but I took a ceramic class and was able to make my own art! I loved that the place is operated by different artists + mediums. I even came back and had my portrait taken by the in-house photographer.
GO VISIT! the people are amazing!

This was such a unique and delightful mini art gallery I happened upon while in San Francisco visiting my son and his fiance. We were waiting for the cable car and I noticed this adorable little kiosk that I had to go check out and I chatted with the owner Liz for quite a while. She's a lovely lady with a unique sense of style and art. If you're ever in the area, please go see her and her unique art gallery!
