This is a lovely area in San Francisco, consisting of several massive and impressive buildings, halls and museums.
It's good for a 2-hour stroll and visit of the museums.

I had the best time at the Edwardian Ball. The vendors had some of the most amazing things to purchase. The afternoon tea was wonderful and had a very fun show. The ball that evening was so much fun. The costumes were jyst an amazing site. The staff was very friendly and the event was well organized.

We were here for business at City Hall so we walked through the park in front. Nice new addition, a big play ground that was full of kids and their tenders. Otherwise the space was empty and uninviting as always. They never seem to get it right. And it can be very windy.

This is real hidden gem. Tucked away on the 6th floor of the Main Public Library is a treasure trove of random items, books and art of the City. Some random items included in the collection:
Mayor [now senator] Diane Fienstein's Wedding dress
A collection of menus from various restaurants that were on display earlier this year
    A greeting card collection
An amazing collection of photos dating back to the Gold Rush. Many are available online in a searchable database.
A stained glass window showing the ferry building removed from a hotel that was torn down to make way for Moscone Center.

Always worth a visit when you are at the Main

This is a little bit of the old city found in the Tenderloin. It's historic but not all that impressive or pretty. But there it is amidst all the chaos. When I worked in the area I walked past it a zillion times.

I went to the store area of the Chinse Cultural Center. They had some cute kids books for the upcoming Chinese New Years (Year of the Rat).

It was a quick visit this time as they were int he midst of setting up a new art exhibit. The new art collection willl be available to see February 8, 2020.
