The bay itself isn't much and the long causeway-bridge certainly doesn't rival those that enter the city proper. But if you're willing to drive 15-30 minutes, the hotels here are nice and about half the cost.

We took this drive. It is very scenic.

However, there are no antique stores in LaHood. No trace of gold mines or history as you drive through the area.

I believe to really see the gold country and typical tourist communities you need to go other towns in CA.

We came here for a special event and enjoyed our short drive to where we needed to go. It's very scenic and there is some parking along the way, but not on Sundays.

This is a major cross-town street taking you out to the Ocean along the south side of Golden Gate Park. Not much to see or do here, just traffic.
