Not a ton of shops, but the ones that are in there feel unique and nice, not kitschy at all. Obviously the building itself is cool too. Great views if you eat outside.

Ghirardelli Square is a small but nice shopping and dining district. The main attractions here are the three Ghirardelli stores: the Original Chocolate & Ice Cream Shop, the Chocolate Experience, and the smaller take-out spot.

I had the very rich and sweet sundae at the ice cream shop. There is a small display of some historic equipment and a chocolate fountain. The Chocolate Experience is really just a store with all variety of Ghirardelli products.

It was very pleasant at 10 AM, though I could imagine it getting crowded later in the day. Unless you're a chocolate lover, it's probably not a must-visit stop in San Francisco, but it's still a good place to indulge and walk around.

I was interested in the beautiful building of The Emporium department store which was built 1896 in style of Modern Renaissance. The building survived the 1906 earthquake but was destroyed by the following fire. But it was rebuilt in original style in 1908. I found that at the beginning of this century (21st) the building changed hands, inside was totally rebuilt with exception of the dome - which is beautiful and which was incorporated into new Westfield department store. Luckily they kept the facade from 1908 and it's beautiful. I went inside but was not interesting to buy anything also to see what is there.

We used to come to the movies here, but we have always loved coming here for authentic Japanese cuisine. We used to dine with a friend who lived in Japan for many years and she helped us choose the perfect restaurant and menu items. Now we are educated. Great ethnic part of town.

I enjoy the urban design of this large complex containing shopping, eating, offices and hotels. There is harmony in the architecture and it is very pedestrian friendly. Sadly with the decline of retail and work-from-home, the place is not as lively as it used to be, but it still looks good. Come here for a meal.

This mall definitely wins most improved award. On a Sunday afternoon the mall is crowded and vibrant. Mostly mainstream Mall stores, but a few unusual places. If you're into pokémon, there's an entire store filled with pokemon. The gadget store has the best selection of phone mounting devices I've ever seen, including amazon. And the food court, although almost exclusively Asian food, was decent. The mall appears to be clean and all of them all patrons are wearing masks, even though they don't have to.

A shopping mall downtown. It has not come back from Covid and the decline of retail, even though the design is pretty and it is a good refuge when the weather is bad. Maybe someday...

Still hanging on in the middle of the general decline. The Target store is still a good place to shop and the multiplex theater is a good place to see a show. There is a food court with locally-based restaurants. This downtown mall is well-placed when San Francisco revives as people come back to work.

Laurel Village is a standard for the locals who live in this area. Roughly, the stores are:

Food: Bryan's and Cal-Mart, both grocery stores with a spectacular array of produce and gourmet foods. A second Bryan's for fresh fish and gourmet prepared foods, A.G. Ferrari pastas, sauces and prepared foods, Noah's Bagels.

Coffee shops: Starbucks, Peets and a non-chain cake and pastry shop.

A good book store, some banks, Gap, Imaginarium, the most excellent Papyrus for cards and stationary, a shoe store for children, a Walgreens, a five & dime everything store, and a wine shop.

A block up is Sacramento Street with upscale boutiques for women's, men's and children's clothing, and lots of furniture and antique shops, a number of nice restaurants and a movie theater. It is a shopping street in a residential area.

We were in the Fisherman Wharf area so wandered over to Anchorage Square which is nearby. There are some shops such as Sunglass Hut and Anchorag Liqour. There are places, primarly the fast food restaurant type.

Very sad to see most businesses closed. There were only two restaurants open. The rest was all shut down, boarded up. You could so so much with it. Had chowder at The Chowder House, good.

Personal attention from the sales people if you visit. Sorry their online service seems to be spotty, but if visiting San Francisco, you should stop by if you want to visit a San Francisco institution. In the heart of Chinatown. Wok prices are reasonable and high quality, made in the USA. I bought my first Wok here 40 years ago and it hasn't changed much. Old one still going strong but I needed one with a handle.
