What travellers are saying
- Emma WAuckland, New Zealand696 contributionsWe chose Kailua Beach over Lanikai Beach, as we heard it can be impossible to get parking there. It was a bit difficult getting to Kailua with lots of roadworks in the area. Got a park straight away at Kailua, although it was a weekday afternoon. Lovely big beach and partner even thought he saw a turtle swimming.
The beach facilities could use some upgrades. We changed as quickly as possible as the changing rooms looked really dirty and smelt disgusting. The beach shower was surrounded by sand so it was difficult to wash your feet. Some workmen were moving sand from a footpath, which seemed like a waste of time as it just blew straight back. Would have been better to clean around the beach shower.Written 4 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We also went while it was raining, which I don’t recommend unless you have the proper shoes and ready to get dirty.
The hardest part of the hike for us was the trailhead entrance because it was wet and muddy. When you flyer up to the trail there is still a lot of mud but there are also rocks.
The muddy pants and shoes were worth it as the views were amazing. Also being able to see the pillboxes up close is a once in a lifetime opportunity.Written 30 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Search "Nikko Gandia Travels" on YT. Prepare for rock scrambles towards the latter half of the hike to the 1st peak. There are ropes, if needed, on certain sections. I'm not a mountain climber but did not need to use these ropes. If you need visuals for these climbing sections, they're in my vlog. ;) This trail is challenging in a fun way, I can't wait to go back and hike the other 2 peaks. Great views of east O'ahu and the Ko'olau ridge at the summit.Written 18 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Karen JensenProvo, UT6 contributionsShop for the things for your stay! Interact with wonderful artists and small, local growers. It is charming and pleasant. - OceanLovingCoupleSan Francisco, CA5,141 contributionsLovely local beach park with nice waves, more surfy than the other beaches here. Way less crowded, another World from Waikiki. If staying past 6pm park on street not in lot which gets locked promptly at 6pm.Written 29 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Kevin BMount Juliet, TN2,325 contributionsWe stopped here while exploring O'ahu and it was a good meal overall. We had a pepperoni pizza and pesto salad, both of which were tasty. The beer was decent and paired well with the food, but it wasn't the best we had on O'ahu. Our service was not very good though and it was a bit of a shame as we liked the brewery overall, but having bad service is frustrating and not something you see very often in a brewery in particular. They do have some good swag and we love the shirts we got here, so it's overall a decent place.

My recommendation is to not park in the parking area near to the Farmer’s Market, it is a tight-squeezing and one-way area. Walk a few extra steps and park outside for an easy getaway.Written 30 December 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Michelle H1 contributionVisited this market after it was recommended to us by friends. Glad we didn't miss it because it was adorable!
Lots of unique vendors to shop from including jewelers, fashion, pet-friendly items & we even enjoyed live music while we ate lunch.Written 24 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I did not read any reviews before hiking this and boy was I in for a ride.
Entrance - finding the entrance is a little tricky. It's hidden, right around the corner of a residential neighborhood.
Hike trails - it's easy to get lost. The clues are not that obvious, but we were able to meet some locals who were able to pave the way. This trail is MUDDDY! Make sure you bring proper attire, shoes, and clothing. I slipped and jammed my finger (unfortunately) bringing a first aid kit is a good idea for next time.
Bugs - Lots of bugs, bring a bug spray repellant.
This hike requires getting down and dirty, climbing through boulders, going into the creek to get to the other side, and lots of incline and decline. However, the outcome of this trail is super beautiful! I did not jump off the cliff, but my fiance did. Highly recommend this!Written 6 February 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. A great atmosphere (very nice decor) and very friendly staff. Delicious beer and a choice of many different types of beer on tap. - Ann CNashville, TN3,280 contributionsThis paved path is located at the foot of Koolau Mountain Range. A nice selection of birds can be viewed from this walk.
Can be hot, go early or later. Lacks shade.
Distance is about 1.5miles...3 miles round trip.Written 21 May 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
