We had such a wonderful time at the Luau and during the visit to Waimea Valley beforehand. First of all, the drive up towards the north shore was so pretty, and we got to see huge waves along the shore.
The botanical gardens were beautiful, and there were lots of signs explaining the plant life. We didn’t go in the water at the waterfall but lots of people did.
The luau started with a bunch of interactive demos, such as opening coconuts and shredding taro. There was a wonderful overview of the traditional meal cooking method over the fire.
The food at the luau was delicious (i was with several picky eaters who liked the food too). The entertainers really worked their tails off with many costume changes along with dances of different styles, which they explained along the way.
The only tiny drawback was that the line to get drinks could get really long, but honestly that was such a minor inconvenience in Ann overall spectacular night.
After seeing the luau at our hotel in Waikiki, I was VERY glad we had chosen this one instead. I thought this highlighted Polynesian culture much better.
