It was a semi-rainy day, but even so, the various birds were interesting and the boardwalk is an easy walk and allows close-enough access without disturbing nature.

This is right next to a lovely nature walk, boardwalk, with interpretive signs and lots of birds.
Sugar beach is a long stretch of beaches along the Kihei road and the great thing about it is that you can actually park your car along side of the road and get to the beach next door.

I was going to go to the Mokapu Beach Park (further North) and walk along the boardwalk south to Polo beach, but there was just a small lot with very little parking so I drove all the way to Polo Beach.
The park provides picnic tables, BBQ grills, shower and restroom facilities and lots of free parking.

Yeah you have to park up the hill and its a little bit of a walk but there is a great lawn grassy area, nice bathrooms and showers and just enter the surf and head south to the rocks for tons of turtles!
We drove along the coastal road and turned off at every road toward the beach and discovered several beaches including Makena State Park which extends a long distance along the shores.
