All you could ask for in one place! You know your getting the best price and there are choices galore. Everything from veggies, to jewelry, soaps, and T-shirt’s with prices reasonable and at every price point. The empanada is just ok….it used to be much better so be prepared if you’ve ordered them in the past. The best is the shaved ice. OMG….. delicious and so reasonably priced”…. Definitely a must have. So if you don’t want to spend your vacation shopping, simply spend a few hours at the swap meet and get it done in a morning.

Everything was awesome!! But the only thing that was really not good is your lawn chairs are way way to Flimsy. As for larger people it's really uncomfortable for them. I would not want to be one of them if those chairs break while I'm sitting on it that would be a huge embarrassment. Maui Arts and cultural Center Should Make an Exception for people who are overweight bring in their own chairs. It's sad I witnessed a similar situation that very night at the front of the stage. where a couple had to be moved to the back because of the chair situation he was too big for the chair. They paid the money to be in the second row up front at the stage they should've just let them bring their chairs in. That was very embarrassing for the couple.

While you will not see anywhere near the number of waterfalls you'd see on "The Road to Hana" this is, IMHO, a superior drive. Yes, the single-track portions are often terrifying (think uphill grade leading to a blind curve), but if you drive it sensibly you will be greeted with endless coastal vistas and awesome scenery.

We drove it counterclockwise on a Sunday midday, and traffic was light in the single-track sections so while we encountered oncoming traffic in several places, it was much less crowded that TR2H. Add in the fact that sight lines are generally longer than TR2H and its just an easier drive. There are also more pullouts.

I would caution against the oft cited "backing up to make room" thing. While this is OK for short distances, if you can see behind you, do not do it for more than a few feet, and especially don't back up around a curve unless you want someone behind you slamming into your back end.

Once we got back to the two-lane section between the Blow Hole and Lahaina the road got increasingly busy and congested. with multiple cars stopped barely off of the road in many places because the pullouts were all fully packed. Be careful of pedestrians over here.

One other note, the locals on this side of Maui seemed far more courteous than their brethren on TR2H. We were never once tail-gated or had the right of way taken by a local over here, something which was routine on our TR2H drive.

Most trails from the summit of Haleakala are well populated, and exotic, with volcanic or tropical scenery but Skyline gives you an expansive view of the Big Island, Wailea, Kihei, West Maui mountain, Molokini, Kaho’olawe, Lanai and off in the hazy distance, Molokai. And you’ll be absolutely alone doing it, as I was for four hours, since, although this trail is a noted Mountain biking destination, rental companies do not provide a pick up in Poli Poli park some dozen miles downhill, and arranging a two car shuttle would take more than two hours. Being alone in this desolate, treeless desert has its charms, and on a cloudy day near sunset, it must be spectacular. I was there on a cloudless Monday morning and the weather was brisk and perfect for hiking. Be forewarned, if you plan to do an out and back hike, those five miles up hill at altitude can be very trying.

Early March means it is not in full bloom. However, we learned a ton. Staff was very friendly. The audio guide was super informative and makes the visit much longer and more interesting. We learned so much about native Hawaiian plants. Small and not as lush as other gardens but totally worth the stop!

This mall doesn't look great, but it is very functional with an awesome HIC - Hawaiian Island Creations store. This store has exclusive Hawaiian shirts from the following brands - Billabong
    HIC
    Hurley
    Hydro Flask
    Quiksilver
    Rip Curl
    Vans
    Volcom
    Yeti
They have a giant variety of shirts in all of the popular sizes. The shirts and clothing are great and don't really cost more than you'd find at a souvenir shop, but are much better and are much more likely to be worn again and again. In the back of the store by the cashier there are a lot of Hawaiian stickers worth taking a look at. The mall also features some of the other standard stores and eateries. There is also a TJ Maxx for any cosmetic or travel items that you might need for your travel at a discounted price. This mall's location is excellent - right across from a ship port and in the heart of town.

This is a neat place with long board walks winding along the beach. Lots of water birds, plovers, ducks, herons. Cool vegetation. Not a lot of parking. Has places to walk onto the beach. Great place to take a stroll.

Visited the Maui Flea Market, which is every Sat 7am-1pm, 50c to get in, some good priced items, but would suggest you walk the whole market before you buy, some things you will find the exact same for cheaper, but highly recommend as there are some bargains to be found. Mahalo.

The McCoy Theater offer a very intimate feel with who ever is performing there. Recently we saw Steve Earl and the sound is great as well as the lighting was perfect. There are often time solo performers that don't want to bring their whole band but do something more acoustic. The theater is small enough that it lend itself to that perfectly. It only hold about 250 people. The space can be rented as well. This flexible space features an omni-directional lighting grid and movable stage and seating areas for conventional or cabaret performances. The McCoy is the perfect place for a theater play, an educational seminar, photo shoot or movie screening. It is a special place for the public to use or visit.

KCC Park has been around ever since I can remember. I spent many hours on the soccer field and tennis courts back my youthful days. The park hasn’t changed much since then but is upkept well.

    THE PARK:
At 34 acres, it’s the central vallley’s second largest park. Facilities include an old-school community center, walking trail, soccer and baseball fields and tennis courts. Later additions brought in a swimming pool, new playground equipment, and disc golf. Walking the backside of the park’s perimeter trail used to be creepy and unsafe as the brush was thick, but thankfully is now thinned and maintained. Exercise and stretching stations used to line the walking trail but have since been removed. On certain days, the parking lot and roadside is jam-packed with cars as quite a few soccer games are played here.

    WALKING TRAIL:
When possible, my spouse and I come here to do a few laps on the walking trail that encircles the perimeter of the park. We like it here best compared to Keopuolani Park as there’s a mix of hills and flat portions, and is safer overall.

    COMMUNITY CENTER:
I attended and had a few birthday parties at the community center. It’s open-air and divided into two areas: A covered courtyard area with a stage, and an L-shaped room with indoor seating and kitchen that hugs the entire courtyard. Parking here is quite limited.

    TENNIS COURTS:
There are four, lighted cement courts. The courts are clean, well-maintained and quite popular.

    OVERALL:
    Centrally-located, easily accessible.

Another mall on Maui? Yes. Needed? No, especially with all the vacant spots around town. But, as of 2019, Hookele Shopping Center is the island's newest complex at the corner of Hookele Street and Pulehu Road near Hana Highway.

According to plans, a total of five buildings are to be constructed with recently-opened Safeway as an anchor tenant. As of this review, only three buildings are standing along with the Safeway Fuel Station which should open soon. Supposedly a drive-thru restaurant will pop up, hopefully something new that is not yet on the rock, but we can only hope. Can I get a Popeyes?!

Parking is easy to maneuver, with access into the complex only via Pulehu Road, though exits can be had on both roads.

    OVERALL:
Until we see who else opens up shop, it's a solid 3 stars.
