What travellers are saying
- Becki PMinneapolis, MN19 contributionsThis was our first time to the sanctuary and both felt it was a highlight of our trip. It was so fun feeding and petting the animals and learning their stories. Our guide was wonderful as well!! Highly recommend!Written 11 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- smhrPickering, Canada277 contributionsThis is a hidden gem on the road to Hana. It is difficult to see from the road, so you better mark the location on your gps prior to taking the road to HanaWritten 19 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ETNalwaysPlacentia, CA10 contributionsI randomly found this when I was looking on my Maps app for something else, and this visit turned out to be one of our favorite things this vacation. They only do tours Saturdays from 2-3 and you need to call or text in advance. I found their website at 11am today (Saturday) and texted to ask if they could squeeze us in. Andrea immediately texted me back that we could come.
If you love animals, this is the place for you. They take in local goats, cats, sheep, birds, deer and misc other animals that have been injured in the wild or otherwise need to be rescued from a dire situation, nurse them to health and provide them love and shelter. You can visit with and pet their friendly brood and learn all about these wonderful animals and the rescue efforts. I even got to bottle feed a lamb! Such a heartwarming and meaningful day for me and my family.
If you’re local, consider volunteering. I wish I lived here so I could lend a hand. Truly a wonderful cause.
Follow the signs down a narrow road until you are in front of their gate. They’ll let you in, where you can park. They are tucked back in the rainforest. Also, fyi - right before you get to their property, you will drive by an extreme hoarder neighbor. Don’t let that deter you!Written 2 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Laura LPlano, Texas, United States5 contributionsThe crew was friendly and helpful. Only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is they told us they “clean” the fish for us, but really all they did was cut the head off and scrape the scales. Maybe that’s normal, we were just caught by surprise when we went to cook them. Didn’t have the equipment to properly prepare the fish at our condo. Otherwise great trip.Written 20 August 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- lwjSan Jose, CA6,891 contributionsThe Haiku Mill was only used a short time for processing sugar cane on Maui and is now used as a destination venue for weddings or similar gatherings.
It is located a short distance up Haiku Road from the Hana Highway.
The tour is interesting and not very long, maybe an hour. The grounds and the building features an eclectic collection of objects from around the world.
It is a nice and easy walk... a relaxing and picturesque way to spend an hour or two.Written 15 September 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Ryan is knowledgeable, kind and has a laid back demeanour that keeps the day relaxed and fun. We learned so much about coconuts and had fun as a family. We still talk about our time there when we get together!Written 1 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - beth ann kHalstead, KS1,793 contributionsTake a picture as you drive by. The day we went, it was raining, so this was "roaring" down. Just a nice slow down on the Road to Hana.Written 2 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- beth ann kHalstead, KS1,793 contributionsThis was an okay stop for views on the Road to Hana, but there are restrooms, and of course, feral cats.Written 2 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Mark SCorrales, NM3,637 contributionsThis park is located on the spot where the 4th Marine Division staged and trained during WWII. Lovely spot is now also a great park for kids. A lovely memorial of a much harder time in Maui's past...Written 28 February 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - SoCalOregonianMurrieta, CA10,390 contributionsThe church is located a short ways off the Hana, but well worth the 20 minute detour. 5 minutes there, 10 to walk around the grounds and 5 back to the Hana. The church was locked when we visited but looks well maintained so may still be in use. There is a small cemetety located on church property.Written 25 October 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
