What travellers are saying
- Anne T3 contributionsI did make the trip to bla k dog salvage and I would go again. Lots of repurchased. Stuff and gift ideas. - Sarah R3 contributionsA great variety of menus from the different vendors, housed in this building. The City Market is centered in downtown Roanoke. It is an easy walk to and from the several boutique hotels and the iconic Hotel Roanoke. After a nice meal or refreshment walk down the street towards Jefferson Ave and stop into the magical Market Gallery, at 22 Campbell Ave. across from The City Parking Garage. It is an amazing little hidden jewel. It exhibits truly beautiful, collectible artwork, from regional and out of state artists, at truly affordable prices. It has been in Roanoke for twenty years, everything is original and is easily comparable to fine New York or San Francisco art galleries, without the high prices.Written 23 March 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - 63impalaStoneham, MA994 contributionsWe wanted to check this place out. We arrived with only 30 minutes until closing so we rushed a bit to look at everything. They had something for everyone and you need about an hour to fully check things out. Worth your time to check it out.Written 3 November 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- sunnyographyRoanoke, VA24 contributionsI love this - Pop Up Art Markets are so great! But most people view it as just a free gallery while eating at the market. They may not realize the time and money the artists are investing in this event and it's fair to say they cannot afford to repeatedly do it without making a paycheck. I hope there is a way that people can respect this fact and promote shopping at the Art Market - buying whatever they can big or small. Fingers crossed :)Written 11 December 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Charles13 contributions32 years ago, we lived in Roanoke and discovered Jamisons' Orchard on a Sunday drive after church. Enjoyed their apples and apple cider! Was happy to visit Jamisons' Orchard again and find many varieties of apples from their orchard, their own apple butter, vegetables from their garden, honey from their own aviary, home made candy, home made jams, meats, kitchen aprons, and decorations for the home for sale in their store. While there, we spoke with other visitors who also had lived in Roanoke many years ago, but still stopped by Jamisons' Orchard every time they were in town to pick up their favorite items. Highly recommend a visit to this multi-generation family owned business!Written 27 October 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jim B1 contributionAlexander/Heath has never failed to amaze me. They take dares that no one else will touch locally. 9/10 shows has some of the most exciting artwork from Virginia and beyond. - Dreama KFincastle, VA1 contributionThis gallery features avsnt-garde artworks by both emerging and experienced artists. Each time I have attended an opening, I leave loving this gallery and the featured artist. It represents what is the most likely form of gallery in any urban area of the present and future--a boutique gallery with soulful statements and questions with talented conceptual artists. Don't miss it!

- Patrick KRoanoke, VA1 contributionIn the craft beer industry & culture, we often call outlets for take-home beverages, "Bottle Shops." With many small and large breweries, cideries, etc., now canning their products, this term may dissapear. One thing's for certain, though, especially in these difficult times, places like Barrel Chest will not! With a large selection of fresh Craft Beer, Cider, Mead & Wine purveyed by a knowledgable and friendly staff, Barrel Chest is a premier stop for everyone seeking both local and non-local beer, cider, mead and wine. Owner Martin Keck tirelessly labors to keep this little treasure of a shop well-stocked and prices fair and reasonable. When not restricted by today's precautions with regard to COVID-19, Barrel Chest also features a tasting area where many fine fermented beverages may be enjoyed, incliuding Martin's own craft beer creations. Highly regarded & well-supported, Barrel Chest Wine & Beer is well worth a visit, anytime!Written 24 April 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
