What travellers are saying
- StephenCrossDublin, Ireland31,576 contributionsThere is a wide variety in terms of what you get on these beaches on the Costa del Sol. Ranging from stones to perfect sand. Also rocky areas. Overall really great.Written 8 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Stanley MDoncaster, UK28 contributionsThis is one of the most stunning places I have visited in Spain with panoramic views and picturesque streets. The only problem is it has become very commercialised with businesses charging way over the odds for goods. Whilst there we called for tapa's and a glass of vino at Virgen De La Pena.
Very poor quality (we ate around 1/5, with bread we never ordered but was charged for and to top that IVA (VAT) added onto the bill.
Give this venue a miss.
All in all it left a bad taste.Written 21 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We had a horse cart trip around the village, great lunch with a splendid views from Mirrador and very cheap parking - just €1 for the whole day.Written 5 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Erkki42Helsinki, Finland33 contributionsA nice place to have a walk on the wooden path along the long beach. In January you could not swim. A couple of beach restaurants were open, many of them were closed.Written 9 February 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - StephenCrossDublin, Ireland31,576 contributionsThis is more commonly just called the boardwalk. They have been adding to it and improving it over the past few years. Great credit to whoever backed this. Beautiful to walk, jog, dog walk (cycling not permitted). Views great. Lots of facilities and bars etc.Written 8 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- janep1Sheffield, UK688 contributionsThis is such a beautiful village with amazing views, pretty streets and lots of places to sit and have a relaxed drink. - Samantha A17 contributionsHighly recommend taking time out to spend a morning at Donkey Dreamland. Five of us booked for the walking tour and brunch. All expectations were surpassed. Thoroughly enjoyed a lovely, long walk through some woods with the donkeys and knowledgable guides/volunteers. When we eventually arrived back at the sanctuary, there was a truly amazing brunch set out for us. All local produce, mainly from the talented chef’s garden. We all agreed that the lunch was undersold, possibly one of the best meals we had during our two weeks in La Cala, and we ate out in some of the top rated restaurants! If you have the time, please visit, you won’t be disappointed!Written 13 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jamie ONorway29 contributionsFun little place. Interesting collection of tiny items (as many other reviews detail). If you are in Mijas already, definitely recommended. I drove out of my way to see this, and it was a pleasant diversion. Won't take you long to check everything out since it's also a tiny museum. ;-P
Added bonus: two friendly resident cats (not miniature) to greet you upon arrival.Written 18 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. First we walked the yellow path which was a loop and although a shorter of the routes, I’d say the steepest. The first 2k were almost on our knees!!
The next trail was the orange, which was an up & down to the summit. It wasn’t as steep until nearer the top and worth it for the views.
We did both trails in Aug but started just before sunrise so we were back before the heat started to be an issue and we could easily park the car near the trail entrance.
It is rocky under foot and proper footwear is needed, trail shoes or hiking boots ideally although my teenage son managed in normal running trainers. We took lots of water, about 2L each and snacks plus I found my hiking pole very useful.Written 2 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. You can get a great view over all of Fuengirola and you can see as far as Calahonda and you might be able to see Africa on a clear day. The is also a little gorge located here and the botanical garden is stunning. Mijas Pueblo is a wonderful place and it’s worth a couple of hours here. It’s a very accessible place with buses from Malaga, Torremolinos snd Fuengirola going here.Written 9 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Margie DYork, PA2,052 contributionsA chapel built in the 16th century, it was built after an apparition by Mary. - Gail CHULL7 contributionsHad bad experience on lazy river which was not so lazy as fast descent there was too many people in the small gathering pool and subsequently crashed into them flipping me out and felt like i was in a washing machine. Lifeguard had jumped in but i was upright by then. Really shook me up and no way was i wanting to continue. Getting out was tricky. Lifeguard did help but very precarious having to climb out over a wall with risk of slipping.
Also be so careful of the pools in the park as the surface underfoot is very rough and abrasive. Even in the kids pool i saw a young girl just slide in on her tummy and badly grazed her chest. My son grazed his knee and saw others with abrasionsWritten 7 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
