We toured several sites in Utah, AZ, and New Mexico. This tour was my hands-down favorite. Much of the enjoyment was because of Bobby, our Navajo guide. He was incredibly knowledgeable about geology and indigenous plants. Most interesting to me, he offered so much information about the Navajo culture. I had MANY questions, and he answered each of them comprehensively and patiently. He also recommended a couple of books for my husband and I to read. A special treat was him playing the flute for us. A thoroughly enjoyable tour, well worth the investment of time and money!

We are so pleased we chose the Backcountry tour. We saw parts of Monument Valley we didn't expect such as a real Hogon. Our guide Tesla brought the experience to life for us which was important as being from England this was a once in a lifetime experience.

This tour was everything we could have hoped for and more! Our tour guide Larsen was the nicest guy who gave us a view into the lives and history of the valley and the Dineh (Navajo) people, his people, and for those 3 hours we felt like we were brought into the secrets of a sacred culture and forgotten world. We were transfixed! The views and sites off the beaten track were unbelievable, and Larsen even played us flute music at one of the great sites. Authentic & powerful, we will never ever forget this experience of a lifetime.

We had an amazing sunset tour with Lee. He shared so much about this beautiful valley, Navajo culture, and his experiences growing up in the nation. So worth doing and this is a great company to tour with. Highly recommend them!

What an amazing experience this tour was. Our guide, Harry, was great as he shared many facts about each landmark we visited during the tour and shared stories about growing up as a native.

Our experience was enhanced as not only was this a sightseeing tour, but a great way to immerse ourselves in native culture and their connections to this area. Would definitely recommend this tour to anyone.

I recently booked a sunset tour with Monument Valley Tribal Tours. Because it was June, it was mighty warm. If you’re planning this tour in the summer, bring plenty of water. Cheryl, our tour leader was incredible, from her wealth of wisdom of her people, to her driving skills. She will take it slow over the bumpy parts and sail smoothly over the sandy parts. I have not driven the self guided tour. But the guided tours will take you to places you can’t see on your own. If you have any appreciation for the Navajo, this is a trip you don’t want to miss. It is well worth the price. When I return, I will be booking another tour!

This experience was exceptionally special. Don is the only way to tour the back country of Monument Valley, especially if you love history, are a John Wayne fan, interested in Navajo/Native preservation, or just love good sight seeing! Don is a gift to his people and now to those of us blessed to spend time with him! My husband and I will never forget our time with him, listening and learning, and experiencing the valley through his eyes (and life experiences)! So much knowledge and an awesome photographer too! He may be over 80 but this man still has so much life and energy to spread in the world. Thank you Don for the couple of hours you taught us about the Diné people and sharing your grandpa’s and mother’s legacy (now yours)! Just do it - spend time with this man - you will not regret it!

Wonderful family experience. We highly recommend this experience if you love to learn in an incredible place with fantastic people! For a family from the Midwest, it was a great introduction to the Navajo (Di'neh) culture. Thank you Cody and et.al. for sharing a little about yourselves and the beautiful land that is your home. Ahéhee.

Our tour guide was Larry. He was amazing. He was patient, knowledgeable.extremely polite and gracious. He never rushed us. He explained all of the sights so throughly. He even helped us take the most beautiful pictures. He took pictures of my husband and myself and of a group of ladies that took the tour with us. He played the flute, which he does extremely well, twice. It was especially fitting when he played it in remembrance of the Navajo code talkers. A trip to Monument Valley is not complete unless you take a tour with Tribal Tours and it will be even more meaningful if Larry is your guide. Do not miss this special opportunity or you will miss a highlight of Monument Valley.

Visiting Monument Valley was astonishing and not doing this with a native Navajo guide would be a big mistake. Our guide Wayne was professional, knowledgeable and very courteous. We felt humble and very privileged being able to feel the respect and love the Navajo nation has for their amazing preserved land. We would love to visit again. A definite bucket list must see !

We did the Mystery Valley & the Sunset Monument valley tours, both with Sean as our fantastic guide.
It was fabulous to get away from the crowds and see areas so steeped in history. We loved hearing about the Navajo culture and Sean has a great skill in storytelling that kept us fully engaged learning about the Navajo history, their life in the area and customs.
Sean played the flute so beautifully and that was a really special and moving experience.
Definitely an experience not to be missed - thank you Sean for allowing us to visit your beautiful lands and sharing with us.
