This monument stands in tribute to the men of Auchtermuchty who fell in the two world wars. The monument is in the style of a study stone column, with one side is a niche containing a statue of a World War One soldier wearing a greatcoat and standing guard over the monument. Names for the roll of honour are carved on the other three sides. A fine monument in the centre of the town.

This statue is in tribute to Sir Jimmy Shand,a Scottish musician and band leader known for playing the Scottish dance music on the accordion. He legacy includes a vast trove of music having composed more than 300 tunes, including “The Bluebell Polka” (You really have to be Scottish know that one).

The statue depicts Shand playing his accordion while dressed in the traditional kilt and tweed jacket. This kind of music isn’t my thing, but a good likeness and a small reminder of school dances.

Set in the middle of Auchtermuchty the present Church was built in 1780 with many fine gravestones in the Graveyard . A Church of Scotland denomination . The bells in the Bell Tower have an interesting history one is a medieval bell with the angel Gabriel on one side and Mary and Jesus on the other side . The other bell is called the Reformation Bell and was made in the Netherlands in 1618. The Church itself is a very strong and outgoing with activities for the congregation
