I've been watching Fiona and Cois Mara Adventures for some time now on Instagram and I love her posts, showing the best of Donegal beauty and all to be explored.
Months later, I finally found a window in early February '24 and with my friend Ailbhe we headed to Donegal to walk with Fiona. We had hoped to do a tour of Gola island, however, the weather decided to not play ball and we opted for plan B, a coastal walk, and it did not disappoint!
Meeting Fiona at Maghery Beach she drove us to a further point to walk back to Maghery. About 8km. Everything was planned beautifully, including handfuls of sugary (fat free!) sweets to keep our energy up!
Fiona, is fun, engaging, highly knowledgeable on the history of the locality and we learned a lot! The weather was kind, the sun shone, the wind blew and just as we landed back to Maghery car park the rain came!
Our walk took just over two hours at a nice pace as we chatted about life, fauna and flora, local characters and history, and stopping to take copious amounts of images of the astonishingly beautiful views.
We loved our walk with Fiona and she is also part of the beauty of this experience, as she is simply a beautiful person. Go on take it Fiona!
We will be back for sure and next time to hopefully get plan A over the line and the boat trip out to Gola!
Thank you Fiona. Go néirí an bothar leat.....
