Very pleasant ride across the bay to the Fort. The narrator onboard provides good insight and information including details about the history of the Fort. Onsite the Park Rangers also provide a retrospective of the fort's involvement in the war and the battles fought there . Visitors are encouraged to walk the grounds and observe the relics that remain. Information plaques are abundant and fill in additional details of these aspects of the fort. This tour is a must for history buffs and or those looking to spend a few hours cruising the bay while getting the background of this National Historic treasure.

Emerson and Ace were great! Emerson was very entertaining and knowledgeable. It was fun learning about the history and there was a special bond between him and Ace.

This was a great tour, and we really enoyed it. We went as a family (two adults and a 10-year-old). Our guide knew local history deeply, with great anecdotes from the past, and answered a range of questions from the group.

This tour involves a fair amount of walking, but I found our 10-year-old was able to keep up just fine (although see note at the end about rain). I think kids much younger than 10 might find this a lot of walking. The guides do their best to keep it entertaining (our 10yo got a lot out of it), and the content is mostly family-friendly, but the tour is mostly aimed at adults.

I highly recommend this tour if you're in the area. The history puts all of the (very pretty) downtown in good context.

It started pouring rain towards the end (February!) so my wife and kid bailed. But I stuck with the tour and was well-rewarded with more sights and historic locations.

Boone Hall Plantation was absolutely wonderful! There is so much to see and do. The gardens are stunning; learning about the slaves and the Gullah culture was very interesting; the wagon ride around the grounds was beautiful and provided a lot of insight and information about the plantation. Staff is very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. It’s a great experience for all ages and a must do when visiting Charleston!

It was a beautiful day for a boat ride. The Captain provided historical and current information about the area. Comfortable seating inside and out. You cannot see the Maritime from the road - park and walk beside the International African American museum. Check in at the little booth by the pier. Just a nice way to spend a couple of hours and see the area from the water.

Our driver/tour guide, Smithy was an excellent example of what a good tour guide should be....personable, great presentation (sportscaster background a plus), informative, detailed and took extra measures, like pulling over to provide details of a Park or a Building or its Inhabitants and their contribution to the history (good or bad) of Charelston, South Carolina and US History.

Highly recommend this Tour and this particular Driver/Tourguide if you want a broad brush and relaxing History lesson.

There are tours and there are tours but if you really want a detailed historical tour this is it. Only someone with real love and expert knowledge could answer all the questions thrown at him, but he keeps his groups small and interacts with every person. As a teacher he is able to deliver his knowledge very naturally. This is a great way to see the area in an easy, walkable few hours. The history of the area is more than just slaves and plantations and Eric details churches, buildings, architecture, politics and commerce.

Tour guide Randy was very knowledgeable and energetic. He was engaging and explained everything in a way that was easy to follow and understand. The tour was very quick and didn't allow for many questions that would have thrown the timing of the tour off.
