We had such a great time at the beautiful Yaquina Head Lighthouse and tide pools! Here are some of my notes on our visit.
    - Friendly staff
    - Ranger at the tide pool explaining things
    - Junior Ranger and NPS Passport Stamps
    - $7 per vehicle or NPS Annual Pass
    - Lots of informational signage
    - Views of many sunning seals and other marine life in tide pools (check the tide chart and go at low tide)
    - Decent amount of parking
    - Great for a day trip - we spent about 30 minutes at the site but you could spend a longer period of time exploring

M first time here and fun to be had. This aquarium is not as big as the Monterey aquarium but very nice all the same. To give you an idea we walked through all of it in a few hours. Worth a stop when you are in Newport.

We walked all over the area, trying to get about every photo angle we could. From the Lighthouse Trail, up the road a ways, you get a spectacular shop. I went up the Salal Hill Trail just a bit and got some excellent shots from there too. We did not go up into the lighthouse as it was jut too crowded. It is a beauty.

Amazing view and fairly easy walk to location. Much more impressive to be in the bowl than to view it only. Make sure you check the tide times, so you don't get stuck in the bowl! There are a few shops nextdoor and a great place to eat. Worth the stop.

Nye Beach is a small neighborhood of Newport and the most charming part of town. By itself - it almost feels like it’s own small beach town. The beach is awesome for walking and the area has lots of great eats. Highly recommend Stefanies Cafe for breakfast and Nanas or Sorrellas for dinner.

Great place to take kids for a couple hours. Ripley's Believe it or Not Museum is cool for the kids! It's $30 a kid for the whole experience without games at the end. Takes about an hour and some change to see most everything. There's a boardwalk for a couple blocks filled with lots of souvenir shops with saltwater taffy, candy, t-shirts, hippy stuff, candles, kites, pet stuff, Mo's, other seafood joints, and a few bars. It's a pleasant place to spend time in Newport by the bay.

We loved visiting the Hatfield Visitor Center! They have so many wonderful exhibits, for both adults and children. They have great touch pools. Octopus feedings, many hands on exhibits, again for for children and adults. We all (two adults and a 9 & 10 year old) enjoyed it a lot.

What a beautiful beach here! We had a nice camping experience at this park- decent, quiet sites close to beach just watch out for mosquitoes at dusk! Oregon state parks are awesome.

My partner and I went out onto the Municipal Crabbing Pier for some photos of the bridge. The view along the pier at the bridge is excellent.

We took Otter Crest Loop which is a smaller ocean side road off 101 which in itself is an adventure with some pretty great views, and stopped off at Cape Foulweather and found the little building that is a lookout which we'd never been to before. The National Park woman who works there did a great job telling us about the whales that come by this area from the cold waters of Alaska to have their babies down south in warmer waters before swimming back again. It was rather amazing, she said, that on both the these journeys both down and back, the whales have eaten enough that they don't eat at all on the trips! She also told us about some younger whales who stay in the area around the Lookout until they are large enough to make those trips, and they are often spotted eating small sea life from the kelp that floats around in the water right there. We would have loved to see some whales, but it's a little past the time. She told us that April/May will be a good time to return.

We wandered into the brewery after checking out the crab pier and bridge. I'm not a big drinker, so it was more for fun than anything else. The store is cool and the fact that it is buried inside the brewery makes it a cool stop. It's worth a look if interested.

First, we hit at low tide and enjoyed the tide pools and baby seals. We returned a few hours later to hear the rocks clicking (almost like a rain stick) as the water receeded.
