Came here spur of the moment from Columbus. Spent most of the time in the Marisol exhibit which just opened recently & is available through the beginning of June. Come see it if you can! I f you want to save $10 on parking check the church's parking lot which is right next to the museum.

This is a wonderful hidden gem. All of the displays are interesting and informative, and there are numerous hands on activities that are made for kids but fun for adults as well.

There is a brief history of the Great Lakes and all kinds of artifacts and exhibits on the maritime aspect of the lakes from ships to light houses and more.

One note, there are a couple of ships that you can tour, but check before going as they're closed in the winter.

Amazing, amazing! My two boys (10 and 6) spent 4 hours and could have stayed longer. With two levels of so many things to do, kids won’t get bored. We didn’t even add the video, 3d ride or Dino exhibit.

This was the last thing on my list and I had written beside it to only visit if we had extra time and wanted to. Gosh, I'm sure glad we stopped. We both thoroughly enjoyed it. So different than what I was expecting to find. The glass Chess set, the Damascus Glass caught my eye and was among my favorites. My husband enjoyed the ancient pieces. I do recommend.

Old firehouse with restored antique equipment staffed by current and retired firefighters. Informative and interesting look back. Open on Saturdays only. Well with a visit.

For a unique Toledo experience, stop by and see Amy Adler, the operator of the Frogtown Froggy Museum. The museum is currently located at 316 N. Michigan Ave. on the 3rd floor of an office building, so it is a little challenging to find...but it is worth it! Amy has a charming collection of frog collectibles and is an absolute delight to spend a few minutes chatting with. Lots of fun for anyone.

i was spending the weekend in Toledo (by myself) and looking for something different to do while there. Signed up for the Gathered Glass class to create a glass pumpkin. It was an easy location to get to, though finding a parking place could be tricky. Advanced note: free parking on weekends! Class lasts only about an hour, no dressing up necessary. It's a small shop but the group of young men that worked with my group of 7 people were wonderful. All were friendly, explained the procedure, and unlike the a class at another glass shop nearby, did not act like drill sargents. Everyone was able to pick the two colors (1 for the pumpkin and 1 for the stem) from about 10 different colors. We were given a hot glob of glass that we inserted into the pan of color beads. That's when one realized just how hot and heavy the steel pipes were. Constant turning of the pipe isn't as easy as it seems - I found turning too fast almost made my glass fall off the rod. It's easy to forget that the furnace glass blowers use are maintained about 2000 degrees F, until you're standing in front of it. The glass blowing was in 2 parts. Initially. blowing the glass into the mold to get the segments (looked liked a segmented Christmas bulb at that point) and then actually blowing the glass out into the pumpkin shape while one of the men fine tuned it. it was hard to imagine the final color since they all are orange hot when done. Into the annealing kiln for about a 20-24 hours cooling . Since I would not be coming back to pick up my creation - a 7 hour round drive for me - I made arrangements to ship it home for $17. Arrived safe and sound in an extremely well packed box. I wish I has someone with me to have taken a couple of pics of me while doing this but wasn't possible. That's probably my suggestion: take a friend. Thanks to Adam, Mike, Chris, and Ian for making this a fun experience!

Excellent little stop in a pretty park. Friendly gal working and we enjoyed talking with her and seeing their exhibit. It is free, but they do take donations.

This gallery is one of my favorite stops during art loop. I enjoy viewing the art and conversing about art over a good glass of wine at the bar.

So, not worth a day drive but worth checking out at least once. We went to see a show, lasted about 35 mins and very visually memorizing, especially the zooming stars. Felt like something you would see in Orlando. My kids loved it. Very clean and kept up well. This is something to do when you have plans after like lunch or ice cream.

The Arts Commission sponsors art walks in downtown Toledo during the summer. 2014 Art Walks took place the 4th Thursday of each month, May - September, 6-9pm. I attended the September one and had a great time. They give you a map of the art on display in the city and they also offered a free guided tour, which we took advantage of. Many people turned it into a kind of art walk/bar crawl as you walk around to see the art. The picture attached is of the map they gave us. I suppose if you are not there on a day when they are doing this, you can at least visit the art and/or galleries that are listed on the map!
