What travellers are saying
- Carla SLeicester, UK387 contributionsOne of my favourite places! Plenty to do in terms of walking, watching, cafe and a little shopping…. And the pier! A beautiful place to visit and it’s a relaxing day on the pier watching the fishermen but also to watch the boats.Written 30 August 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- JIFE100Isle of Wight, United Kingdom27 contributionsSo much for the kids of all ages to do even on a rainy day from hide and seek in the hay barn to counting the tiny harvest mice to racing on the go- karts! Always impressed with the condition and environments for the animals, new play additions and up-keep of Tapnell in general. There weren’t any close-up animal experiences today which the kids usually love but didn’t detract from the fun.Written 1 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Trevor Armstrong1 contributionMy wife and I visited today. She is in a wheelchair but we got around quite easily. Although a few of the displays may be a little difficult to see from a wheelchair due to sitting position that was only a minor problem when the creatures were on the floor of the display cabinets.
We really enjoyed looking at the various creatures, although very glad that they were behind glass. Some of them are the subject of nightmares. Children will just love the place. It's not expensive.
£6 a head for adults and you can return the same day.
Had a lovely chat with the owner about some of the nasty creatures that I had come across during my travels whilst working overseas. She is a dedicated and responsible life-long reptile and insect lover who has rescued many of the residents.
Well worth a visit. Bring the kids. They'll love it. I'm just a big kid who also loved it.Written 3 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Candis TFareham, UK264 contributionsAlthough a very small castle, spent under an hour here … but thoroughly enjoyed our visit … games for the children to partake in and lovely views across the SolentWritten 7 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- fork_handlesLuton, UK1,709 contributionsWe had seen this for a few years when visiting the island but hadn’t visited until this week as we had heard that it was closing in a couple of weeks.
The layouts are certainly a labour of love and clearly took many thousands of hours to complete. The spot the figure quiz was also interesting, but overall the layouts did look a bit sorry for themselves and the building was damp and cold, I guess the owners are running it down as it is the final few weeks, which is a pity.
In its heyday it may have been a spectacular attraction but is sadly a shadow of its former self now. Still a good visit if you’re into this sort of thing, worth seeing prior to closure if you’re in the area.Written 16 October 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - malc1005Kettering, UK3,934 contributionsA lovely church, easy to find, and has a lovely history and architecture, well worth a visit, if your in the area.Written 10 September 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- fork_handlesLuton, UK1,709 contributionsWe took a walk down Yarmouth Pier when we were in the town in February 2022. Apparently this is one of the oldest piers in the country and affords great views of the Western Solent and the shipping passing by, as well as the regular Wightlink vessels.
Entry is by donation as you enter the structure. It’s good for a walk and to while away half an hour or so.Written 28 March 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - LightPacker55667632 contributionsThis little corner of the world is so peaceful. Stand a while and breathe in the heady pine fragrance, catch the scamper of a red squirrel or look down over the sparkling sea with the bobbing boats. Nothing to do except enjoy it’s serenity.Written 27 July 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Melanie YHavant, UK4 contributionsIt is a bit dated but this is reflected in the entrance fee. My son who's 9 is really into his planets and all things space. He really enjoyed the visit Well worth the money. I wanted to try this out before taking him to the London Planetarium.Written 19 April 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Donald J5 contributionsI can highly recommend Black Rock Charters 2-hour tour around the Needles. Booking was very efficient and on the day our skipper Steve was pleasant and knowledgeable. We greatly appreciated that even though due to a last minute Covid-related group cancellation we ended up being the only two passengers on the boat they still ran the trip for us, demonstrating admirable integrity and commitment to customers. Well done Black Rock Charters, hope to see you again soon!Written 7 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.

- downsouth123London, UK29 contributionsExcellent service from genuinely nice people. Really accommodating when plans changed a few times. Had 2 ebikes delivered to a family members place while visiting the island that were both excellent quality and well maintained. Really good demo and video as a back up, all equipment needed supplied. Our second time using this company and won’t be our last.Written 7 October 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.

- Natasha G36 contributionsVery response to any questions you may have.
Booking very easy too!
Excellent value for money and great fun, even for beginners- you'll find it easy!
Katie and Cedric were fantastic.
Cedric guided us through the shooting and how to hit the targets.
Loved the fact we could keep our target cards at the end.
Definitely returning to do some more rifle shooting and try the clay pigeon sessions next time.
Thanks guys! :)Written 23 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
