We booked the hover crossing as it's something that we always wanted to do one ticked of a bucket list the plan was to visit friends. The departure was superb we managed to get an earlier crossing as we arrived early, the weather glorious and the crossings was smooth. Staff were professional. Unfortunately the weather changed and we were booked on the last crossing the hover crossing was cancelled so had to transfer to the fast link crossing, prepare for an extra 10 min walk to the end of the pier, lucky enough hover travel staff were on hand to book us on.
After the departure and arrival at gunwharf quays this is were it was most frustrating unfortunately no hover travel staff available outside the train station or in the hard exchange bus station to direct people, if it wasn't for a local couple who had travelled to Ryde on the hovercraft, and had to get to Southsea we didn't know there was a hoverbus link, didn't know where the hoverbus stop was no signs or direction. When the stagecoach bus did arrive the local man ask the driver who was at another stand, as the bus said sorry out of service, turned out it was so got on otherwise we would have still been there waiting, I can't give a an excellent rating as this experience let the Hovertravel down a little. Especially on a festival weekend. Sorry....

Stayed in at Helen’s but travelled out to Ryde beach as recommended and Sandy beach. Lovey cafes. Good parking. Ice cream shops. Amusements for children. Fun walk out to the sea.

This was a surprise birthday treat organised by my husband. It was such a lovely day, Charlotte, Sam and team know how to pitch this one to one experience. We learned so much during our day and thoroughly enjoyed being with these beautiful well kept birds. Thank you for making this such a special day and well done. Good luck with the Red Funnel awards as well - we have voted for you!🤞👍

The one word that summaries the visit is Tranquil. What an experience to visit in the UK a working monastery.
Gorgeous location, very photogenic and a good cafe and great shop selling local produce.
    Well worth the experience.
PS. Don't forget to feed the pigs!

I'm not really that interested in buses that date from the 1940s onwards but if buses are your 'thing,' then you will really enjoy this place, especially if it is raining outside. The volunteers that run it are exceedingly enthusiastic and friendly and there are lots of bus related items on display, such as old advertising boards for the trips. They reminded me of holidays spent on the Island with my grandmother in the 1960s. I thought it a pity that the location of the Museum is in such a run down and depressing part of Ryde. If the Museum was in a more attractive location with nicer surroundings, such as where the I.O.W. Railway is based at Haven Street, then I'm sure it would be immensely more popular and well known. As it was, my friends and I were the only people looking around for the time we were there and I thought the volunteer guides seemed surprised to see us upon arrival.

Lovely sandy beach, vast quiet expanse for our 13m old to play. The sea was too far out for paddling when we visited. Lovely views of spinnaker tower and appley tower. We found several public WCs further along the esplanade and cafes etc and puckpool park had some nice play equipment :)

Very friendly and attentive staff while we were inside and at our table. We had the £5 samples of the distillery's produce and were given lemonade instead of tonic at our request. We also had a fabulous camembert board with bread which we both enjoyed.

We stopped for an afternoon break wanting some food and drink . It fitted the bill perfectly and was a pleasant way to while away some time. The experience was really good service and pleasant food with a view a cross the vineyards

Plenty going on here with the railway station, the Hoverport and the great views of the Solent and Portsmouth Harbour.
We sat admiring the views, soaking up the sunshine eating freshly cooked doughnuts for the stall on the pier.

Great to see lots of busy boats coming and going. We really enjoyed watching the world go by while eatting an icecream from the handily placed kiosk

With the amusement arcade and children’s rides outside this is a nice place that also has a reasonable cafe. We noted the unlimited ride wrist band but where disappointed it only runs Saturday afternoon as otherwise multiple rides where quite pricy.

We took our 2 year old here for a morning swim. It's a small place with just a main pool. You have separate changing rooms and if you want a locker you need to ask at the front desk as they require a 5 pound deposit for the key.
We went when it was called causal swimming and they had a few floats for the children. It's was a warm clean pool and as it was sunny they opened the roof. This was vey nice allowing the sunlight in chillin in the pool. If your not swimming there are plenty of seating around one side of the pool.
I would come back here again.

Amazing to see so much information about Ryde. Seeing cattle arriving on the island by boat, painted exactly as my own great great grandfather brought them to the island was especially emotional

This is a lovely little museum based in the basement of an interesting arcade. There is the history of Ryde and the ice room as well as the Donald McGill museum which is quite fun. It is run by volunteers all of whom were quite friendly, despite at one stage listening to an argument in another room about somebody who kept on moving exhibits about!
Well worth an hour and the £4 entry!
