This is one of the best place I have visited till date. Cannot express by writing how beautiful it is. The view is like a panoramic view of nature leaning on the sky. You will feel it like heaven. You will get an amazing 360 degree view of the canyon. Most of the people do not know that there is a canyon in the north eastern part of India. It is only one hour driving distance from main city Shillong. As the name suggest, you can feel that the forest is let undisturbed without human intervention. You can find a variety of trees, insects and if lucky can witness animals as well. The guide is mandatory, but unlike other spots, here you actually get a lot of new information from the guide about the tribes, their culture and how special the forest is. The route is very constructed so it’s very easy to walk towards the falls. The water is super clean and there is so much greenery around the falls. There is a market just at the beginning of the falls where one can shop bags, souvenirs and woollen clothes. Only way to travel is local cab service. They can charge you a lot. Best option is that to visit the Meghalaya tourism office and get a cab. We did some souvenir shopping and binged on Momos, Chowmein and many more items during our visit here. Private cars cannot go till the peak since it’s within a defence area. You need to stop a little bit away to purchase tickets kids below 10 years INR 20 adults INR 50 and cab fare onwards and return INR 200.
ID needs to be presented for inspection at the gate to the security. ID is mandatory for everyone

- Pranita MehtaIndore, India5 contributionsI travelled solo in January. Read good reviews of Mr. Deepak Sarkar (9615765231, 9862330333) so contacted him to arrange a cab for 5 days. He was very helpful and genuine with his recommendations and stories about the place. He also suggested options for affordable accommodations with pictures unlike other agents who didn’t offer much choice and also found good vegetarian places for me. He made a custom tour for me as I wanted to see less touristy spots. I am glad I contacted him for exploring Meghalaya. He also arranges suitable trips for families and couples.
