We found great results, but some are outside South East England. Showing results in neighbouring cities.
Limit search to South East England.
This is a real gem hidden in the Hampshire countryside on a site that was once Amport zoo.
I personally dislike zoos and caged animals - so this is not my first choice as a type of place to visit - this however is my 5th visit and the freedom to fly and obvious good health of these birds is wonderful to...
Monkey Haven Newport, UK
Brilliant place to visit, monkeys and owls are all in impressive exclosures, the zoo keepers are friendly and knowledgeable.
This is an amazing monkey and owl sanctuary, looking after those animals and birds either neglected by private owners, proving difficult with zoos or rescued from poachers.
My son did the half day zoo keeper experience yesterday and it was brilliantly done.
I bought a junior zoo keeper for the day experience for my 9 year old daughter for her birthday.
BCA Zoo Maidenhead, UK
We both enjoyed touring the zoo and we both loved the unrushed meerkat encounters.
The zoo tour was excellent, there is such a wide range of animals I was pleasantly surprised!
Crocodiles of the World Brize Norton, UK
Great little zoo with tonnes of different crocodiles and alligators including some large and formidable species.
We have enjoyed many "VIP" experiences at a number of zoos, mainly with big cats and other mammals, but our day at Crocodiles of the World beat them all!
Drusillas Park Berwick, UK
We had a fantastic day out at Drusillas, I found the staff to be helpful, smiley and great with the children: The animals are great with loads of different species, this is a brilliant zoo to take young children t...

Great free petting zoo
Wingham Wildlife Park Wingham, UK
Places like Howletts and Port Lympne are vast parks set in the rolling countryside with a huge house and gardens and animal enclosures dotted around whereas Wingham Wildlife Park reminds me more of Blackpool Zoo,...
It's smaller than Port Lympne or Colchester, more like the size of London or Bristol Zoos so a fab place to visit for people with little children or even those who find walking far difficult.
British Wildlife Centre Lingfield, UK
The animals seem happy and stimulated within their enclosures and the set up of the zoo is excellently done with close contact with squirrels along with many species of animals in britain seen up close.
Unlike other animal parks or zoos, the BWC doesn't do gimmicks, rides or overpriced entertainment - it puts the beautiful British animals and wildlife it protects at the heart of what it does in a very natural set...
Lots of native species which makes it a great educational alternative to the zoos and safari parks.
We are all very much 'into' animals; one working as a zoo keeper, my son being home ed and spending all his time studying animals and dinosaurs, and myself having owned and worked with animals for much of my life.
Howletts Wild Animal Park Canterbury, UK
Excellent zoo all the staff very informative and helpful reasonable prices animals all looked happy a good day out for all ages
Wonderful place, build somehow in a wood, so the animals are sort of "at home": they were the most active and happy animals I've seen (compared to other zoos and reservations).
Birdworld Farnham, UK
Birdworld is brilliant fun! You'll see rare birds here and there is a petting zoo for smaller children.
There is a also an adjoining aquarium which is included in the price of entry, and a path linking the local garden centre, which had a reasonable menu for lunch and re-entry to Birdworld was also easy.
I have also seen the birds display at Marwell zoo and at Bournemouth air festival.
This isn't a theme park and it's not a zoo so if you're looking for that this isn't the place.

Wildwood Trust Herne Bay, UK
As with all zoos and animal parks seeing the residents can be hit or miss but it is well set out and the staff are very helpful.
The thing we loved about this place is that the animals are not on show like in a zoo there is plenty of shrubbery for them to walk around in, I loved the wild life aspect and would certainly recommend people to c...

Situated underground in the Marine Parade, this aquarium has a good selection of aquatic species and some interesting displays and "hands-on" experiences that will keep adults and children busy for several hours.

Battersea Park Children's Zoo London, UK 3.5 km away
Great facilities and the strength of the zoo is the lovely staff in the café, shop, feeding the animals and the wonderful 'elves' with Santa showing us the guinea pigs.
We chose to visit Battersea Park Children's zoo and we are SO pleased we did.

Cat Survival Trust Welwyn, UK 37.7 km away
To see leopards, jaguars and more at such close proximity is an experience far beyond any zoo or safari park in the UK could offer.
You get much better access than you would in a zoo.

Hanwell Zoo London, UK 15.4 km away
We had a wonderful day out in Hanwell Zoo, we loved the atmosphere and really enjoyed seeing animals especially the flamingos and the meerkats.
Tucked away past the church is the loveliest of little zoos full of unusual small animals.
