One of the best universities in the world and one of the most spectacular campuses. There is nothing more necessary to say about Cornell (perhaps I'm a biased alumnus whose child is not a student there but it is all true). Even if you don't go to school there, spend a day exploring the spectacular campus.

We learned through the gentleman tending the Wild Birds Unlimited Store inside the Cornell Lab that it was no long affilitated with Cornell . The owner of Wild Birds Unlimited is supporting it but it seems to be located on Cornell property so a bit confusing. Nevertheless, there is a trail leading out to the refuge and a wonderful gift shop to purchase bird theme gifts. One can take courses through Cornell Lab on watercolor painting (birds of course), sketching, bird identification. There really wasn't much in terms of learning, exhibits or such but it was fun to finally visit a place that I visit so much on line.

Our first time to taproot, it didn't disappoint. Waited an hour plus on a Saturday night, had flight of beer, Root beer and fry flight as we waited. My favorite was Every Day Haze, great IPA. I did try pumpkin. A solid beer. Had pizza and cheddar ale soup. Soup outstanding. Pizza very good. Good stop for family. Just wish they had tv's.

The Ithaca Commons is a nice place to spend an afternoon or evening with friends/family. There is a good amount of unique restaurants to try, many having outdoor seating. The boutiques and shops are nice to stroll through as well, as long as they are open.

Visited as part of one of their regular public weekday evening meditation sessions. The monks are very supportive of visitors and answered questions about their faith (many only speak Tibetan but there are a few translators around). The displays inside are very beautiful. An interesting and enlightening cultural experience in the middle of upstate New York.

We really enjoyed doing the planet walk on a beautiful summer afternoon in Ithaca. It’s about a mile and a half from the Commons to the Science Center and is a good Way to illustrate the scale of the solar system.

My experience with Corners Gallery has been unparalleled when it comes to quality and genuine customer service. Not only do I receive beautiful framing for my artwork but I continue to return because Ariel takes the time to know my style and my needs. I refer my clients and they always comment about how happy they are with the pricing, quality and overall look.

Odyssey bookstore is located in the heart of downtown Ithaca and is in a historical building on Green Street.
The atmosphere is warm and inviting as is the knowledgable staff. There is a whole section devoted to Ithaca connections. I found some interesting titles and ended up with a stack of great reads.

My daughter loves cemeteries and demands we include at least one on every trip. We were heading for Ithaca Falls in downtown Ithaca, came around a bend and saw this cemetery and pulled in.

It is hilly, with some big tombs built into the hillside. It is in disrepair with holes - even a traffic cone marking one big hole by a tombstone, broken tombstones forming accidental mosaics on the ground, tombstones leaning against trees and each other.

So, watch your step! But of course that makes it even more picturesque and interesting. the big vaults on the hillside are nice. It makes a change from boringly neat cemeteries.
